The Calgary Flames have hit a bit of a rut, losing six of their past seven games and sliding outside of a playoff spot in the process. They’ll attempt to get back on track tonight vs. a Nashville Predators team that shockingly sits in last place in the NHL.
My Flames vs. Predators predictions see Yegor Sharangovich leading the charge offensively against an exploitable defensive team.

Yegor Sharangovich Over 2.5 shots on goal (+105 at BET99)
My Flames analysis
Yegor Sharangovich has done his best work on the road. The Calgary Flames forward has cleared 2.5 shots in 55% of his away games and recorded multiple shots in 10 of 11, only failing to clear that bar against a stingy Dallas Stars team.
He finds himself in a much more advantageous matchup tonight against the Nashville Predators.
They have struggled defensively from the word go and the numbers under the hood don’t indicate the tide will turn anytime soon.
The Predators rank 28th in shot suppression during 5-on-5 play and 24th while killing penalties over the last 10 games. Their defense is very thin on paper and that is shining through on the ice.
Nashville is giving up the bulk of its volume to opposing wingers and is tied with the Anaheim Ducks for fifth-last in shots against to them.
That bodes well for Sharangovich, who was able to exploit this Predators defense the last time these sides met. He had three shots on seven attempts in that mid-November matchup.
It’s also worth noting Sharangovich is skating on a line with Mikael Backlund and Matt Coronato, who his shot rates have spiked alongside.
Sharangovich’s recorded shot attempts at a higher clip with those two than any other forwards he’s played with even semi-regularly.
There’s also reason to believe Sharangovich could bring even more volume to the table. He has hit the target on 37% of his attempts when playing with those two.
His on-target rate generally hovers close to 50%. If the attempts continue to be there, and Sharangovich’s accuracy improves as it should, he could really take off. This is a good matchup for that to happen.

Sharangovich is generating shots very efficiently at 5-on-5 and skating on the top power play. There is a lot to like about how he is playing and the role he’s being given by head coach Ryan Huska.
Although Juuse Saros is generally a tough goaltender to produce against, he has been overworked by the Predators. Nobody in the NHL has faced more shots and it appears to be taking its toll on Saros.
The star netminder has conceded at least three goals in six consecutive starts, posting a .900 save percentage or worse in each.
The Flames should be able to score against this weak Predators team. Given Sharangovich’s shot volume and role, he has a strong chance of getting involved in the fun.
Nashville has won just seven times through 28 games and they’ve played in five overtime games over the past month. The Flames should be able to keep this one close.
