It's a small two-game slate with a four-pack of losing teams all in action tonight.
I'm taking a long hard look at D-men tonight as the variance in these games is wide with how inconsistently the clubs are playing. Tonight could be shootouts or duds, which leaves me to buy some bigger plus-money props on a slow night.
These are my three favorite NHL player props for Wednesday, December 11.

Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets
Prop bet #1: Owen Power Over 0.5 assists
With Rasmus Dahlin still out, former first-overall pick Owen Power leads the Buffalo Sabres power play again vs. the New York Rangers, who are 2-8 SU in their last 10 games and just two games removed from a 7-5 loss. Things are grim for both franchises and this could be another ugly game for a set of clubs who have disappointed all year.
Power has played big minutes since moving to the top power play and has an assist in back-to-back games while getting six shots on net. The Rangers are a mess everywhere and I wouldn't be surprised if the Sabres snapped their seven-game losing streak with the help of Power on the back end.
This is a giant price at +150 for a PP1 D-man getting 25+ minutes of ice time. The books are still overvaluing the Rangers and head coach Peter Laviolette might not have a job tomorrow. I also like Power's 3+ SOG at +205 as his role is still not fully priced in yet and the Rangers can give up a lot of shots.
Prop bet #2: Olen Zellweger Over 0.5 power-play points
The Anaheim Ducks are a decent road dog tonight vs. the Ottawa Senators. Anaheim has been the better team over the last 30 days in terms of point percentage with Ottawa ranking 28th over that stretch. Anaheim might not have the best offense in the league, but this game could be sloppy and potentially high-scoring with how bad the Sens' power play has been.
It ranks as the No.27 PK over the last 30 days at 70% and just over the last seven games, Ottawa has allowed seven power-play goals on 16 opportunities. The Ducks have a great PP matchup tonight and the QB, Olen Zellweger, should benefit.
Getting a PP1 point man at +500 or better for a point is a price I struggle to pass up. It should be around +400 at the longest and the odds are bound to get shorter today. The young defenseman isn't stuffing the box score and plays about 20 minutes a game, but 40% of his points this year have come on the power play and I'm hoping both sides find the back of the net with the extra attacker tonight.
With a game that's hard to predict with both teams losing, I'm looking for some big plus-money action in a wide-variance game.
Prop bet #3: Owen Power + Adam Fox + Olen Zellweger + Jake Sanderson Over 1.5 shots each
I really like the D contributing tonight and that goes with shots on goal. My favorite is Power 3+ SOG at +230 with Jake Sanderson 3+ SOG at +145 a close second, but all four of these PP1 QBs can get pucks on net in these matchups as the Rangers and Ducks allow more shots on goal than almost every other team in hockey. Buffalo and Ottawa are anything but good defensive teams, with a combined losing record over the last 10 games.
There is not a lot I want to pay a tax on today as the four teams are all in the bottom half of the league in point% over the last 30 days. It's a good day to take a swing with both games likely being competitive with the potential for two-way scoring/offense. It's a collection of four of the worst teams in hockey right now and bad form can easily mean a lack of defense.
Even with these plays, you should shop around as bet365 has odds of closer to +500 for this same play.
