The Ryder Cup is without a doubt the most exciting competition in golf and after Day 1 we're starting to see why. Europe, led by Rory McIlroy and Viktor Hovland got off to a flying start, leading 6.5 to 1.5.
There was no shortage of drama and if the USA can't find a way to respond on Day 2, they could add to a trend that's seen them go winless overseas since 1993.
We break it all down in our full 2023 Ryder Cup golf odds below, but be sure to check out our best Ryder Cup picks as well.

2023 Ryder Cup odds analysis
The Ryder Cup is just a couple of weeks away, meaning teams have been finalized and the countdown to the first tee shot is on.
The Americans opened as -188 favorites to win outright thanks to a team that's bringing back seven of 12 from the dominant 2021 lineup, but the Europeans (consensus +100) have forced that line to switch sides (U.S.A. +110) thanks to some hot play from key members this summer.
Viktor Hovland is fresh off his wins at the BMW and TOUR Championship. Meanwhile, Ludvig Aberg continues to impress and won the European Masters earlier this month and followed that up with a T10 at Wentworth, where Jon Rahm finished fourth and Rory McIlroy finished T7.
Those returning to Team U.S.A. include World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, and even Justin Thomas who struggled this year but just finished fifth at the Fortinet Championship. Recent major champions Wyndham Clark and Brian Harman will make their debuts alongside Max Homa and Sam Burns, who was just left off the team in 2021.
As the odds suggest, that squad could cause problems for a European team that is mostly transitioning outside of Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy. Mainstays such as Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood, and Paul Casey are on their way out, leaving the next generation of Hovland, Aberg, Tommy Fleetwood, and Tyrrell Hatton with big shoes to fill.
With that said, Europe's success at home is well-documented (6-0 in Europe since 1993), creating what should be a far more competitive matchup relative to what we saw at Whistling Straits.
