Thursday Night Football’s matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions promises to be one of the biggest games of the year. Let’s hope it lives up the hype.
The tall total is a good sign, at least from an entertainment aspect. It’s also a positive for those who love betting the “touchdown anytime” props. And let's be honest, that’s everyone.
With the number above 50 points and plenty of playmakers on the field, there are seven players shorter than 2/1 to score a touchdown on Thursday night.
I size up these NFC North foes and give my best Packers vs. Lions anytime touchdown picks for tonight.
Packers anytime touchdown pick
Jayden Reed anytime touchdown
+150 at FanDuel
As of late Wednesday afternoon WR Romeo Doubs is still in concussion protocol, and that doesn’t bode well for this status on Thursday.
Last week, with Doubs out, Jayden Reed made the most of his increase in action with three catches on six targets — two for touchdowns in the win over Miami on Thanksgiving.
Reed doesn’t get as much run as guys like Doubs and Christian Watson, but he’s a proven red-zone threat. He sits second on the team in RZ targets with nine, reeling in seven of those passes (five for touchdowns) inside the 20-yard line.
We’ve also seen the speedy 5-foot-11 Reed used as a runner, picking up 128 total rushing yards on 18 carries along with a touchdown in Week 1.
Reed’s Week 14 projections range between 0.3 and 0.4 touchdowns vs. the Detroit Lions, and that’s before factoring in Doubs’ possible absence. He’s listed as short as +130 at some shops but FanDuel is giving +150.

Lions anytime touchdown pick
Sam LaPorta anytime touchdown
+240 at FanDuel
My Packers vs. Lions predictions like Sam LaPorta to go Over his receptions total of 3.5 in this game, considering he’s drawn a total of 18 targets the past three weeks. LaPorta also had a huge showing on Thanksgiving Day, scoring two touchdowns in the win over Chicago.
Quarterback Jared Goff gushed about his tight end after that game, and he and head coach Dan Campbell talked up LaPorta’s role in this offense now that he’s back to full health.
The Lions' second-year TE was hampered by injuries in training camp and in the early weeks of the schedule, yet is still second in red-zone targets with 12 for eight receptions and four TDs inside the 20-yard line.
LaPorta takes on a Green Bay Packers defense that has allowed big numbers to rival tight ends, along with four touchdowns. Green Bay is also soft in the middle, missing some key coverage linebackers for Thursday night.
His Week 14 player forecasts call for between 0.3 and 0.4 touchdowns against the Cheeseheads, which should pan out to a “touchdown anytime” price around +180. Most books have LaPorta below 2/1 but FanDuel is giving a great return on the Lions TE to find paydirt for the second straight week at +240.
