The New York Giants host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon in the first battle of the year between the two NFC East rivals.
The Eagles have alternated wins and losses so far this year with a victory last week against the Browns, while New York is coming off a home loss to the Bengals on Sunday Night Football.
Read why my Eagles vs. Giants predictions and NFL picks expect wide receiver DeVonta Smith to stay hot on October 20.
Eagles vs Giants prediction
My best bet
DeVonta Smith Over 60.5 receiving yards (-110 at BetMGM)
My analysis
The Philadelphia Eagles are finally getting healthier on offense as wide receiver A.J. Brown returned last week and is expected to be a full “go” again this week. However, that shouldn’t have much of a negative impact on fellow top wideout DeVonta Smith, who has missed just one game this season.
Smith leads the Eagles with 303 yards and is tied with Dallas Goedert for the team lead with 24 catches as well as two touchdowns. He’s consistently been a deep threat for the Birds while making the most of his targets, even when they’re limited.
The wide receiver has gone Over 60.5 receiving yards in all four games this season and cleared it rather easily in his first three contests. Last week against the Browns was a close call with 64 yards on three catches (four targets), but a 45-yard touchdown helped tip the scales.
The New York Giants defense is in the top half of the league, averaging less than 200 passing yards against per game, but we’ve seen teams with two top wideouts find success against them. Just last week both Ja’Marr Chase (72 yards) and Tee Higgins (77) racked up Over 60.5 yards against New York.
In fact, the Giants have allowed at least one wide receiver to go Over 60.5 receiving yards in each of their last four games — and Justin Jefferson (59) and Noah Brown (56) just missed in the first two weeks.
Smith has played against the Giants once in his career and he caught four passes on five targets for 79 yards and a score in a Week 15 win last year.
Eagles vs Giants same-game parlay
Smith has a touchdown in two of four games this season and the Giants have allowed multiple touchdown passes in three of their six games.
The Eagles have had a few close calls this season but they’re still a much better team than their division rival. Even on the road, I expect Philly to get the job done to improve to 4-2.
