The Calgary Flames are set to host the Columbus Blue Jackets in a battle of two feel-good teams both exceeding pre-season expectations.

My Flames analysis
Yegor Sharangovich is really starting to take his game to another level offensively. He's picked up five points over his last six games and averaged 7.5 shot attempts per game in that span.
For reference, Sharangovich averaged 4.0 attempts per game last season during his breakout 31-goal campaign.
Sharangovich’s spike in production coincides with being placed on a line with Mikael Backlund and Matthew Coronato. That trio has been absolutely spectacular together, dominating the run of play at 5-on-5.
The Calgary Flames have won the shot attempt battle 102-59 (63.35 CF%) while controlling 65.72% of the expected goals share with that line on the ice.
Sharangovich has a nice matchup to continue building on his recent form against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Jackets play at a very fast pace and tend to find themselves in a lot of high-event games. At least six goals have been scored in 11 straight outings involving the Jackets.
Things have been particularly wild on the road for Columbus. It's allowed an average of 3.88 goals per game, which is more than all but the Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal Canadiens.
I don’t see any reason for the fireworks to stop in this game. The Blue Jackets (second) and Flames (fifth) have both played at an electric 5-on-5 pace over the past 10.
The Blue Jackets have really struggled defensively and are being forced to try and outscore their problems on a nightly basis.
Sharangovich is centered by the captain, Mikael Backlund, at 5-on-5 and a focal point of Calgary’s top power play unit.
He plays arguably the best offensive role on the team and is a prime candidate to capitalize on this mouth watering matchup against the Blue Jackets.

Sharangovich has shot the puck very efficiently of late. He’s recorded at least three shots in nine of his past 13 games and has recorded at least two every single time.
The volume should continue to be there in a high-event matchup against the Blue Jackets, who rank Bottom 10 in shot suppression over the past 10 games.
Matt Coronato correlates very nicely with Sharangovich. They play together on what’s been a dominant line and also share the ice on the top power play unit.
