Montreal Canadiens vs Winnipeg Jets Match Player Stats On Feb 27, 2021

Paul Stastny scored 36 seconds into overtime and Connor Hellebuyck turned away 40 shots to send the Winnipeg Jets past the visiting Montreal Canadiens 2-1 on Saturday night.

Nikolaj Ehlers of the Jets and Nick Suzuki of the Canadiens exchanged second period goals, and Jake Allen stopped 19 of 21 shots for the Canadiens.

Mark Scheifele of the Jets was kept off the scoresheet for the first time in almost a month. During his 11-game point streak, he amassed eight goals and 10 assists.

Ehlers rang a shot off the post early in overtime, just seconds before the Jets got their fourth consecutive win. Kyle Connor rushed the puck up the ice and turned it back to Ehlers, who was streaking up the middle. Stastny was there to collect a rebound and tap it past Allen.

The two teams played to a scoreless draw in the first period, with the Canadiens outshooting the Jets 14-7. Both teams had near misses before the scoring began.

Canadiens rookie Alexander Romanov clanged a shot off the crossbar at 1:19 of the first, and Connor opened the second period by ringing the puck off the post at 1:09.

Ehlers drew a critical penalty at 9:04 of the middle frame, losing the puck on a rush and getting tripped by Canadiens defenseman Jeff Petry. Ehlers went down hard and struggled to regain his feet, but he levied payback while Petry sat in the penalty box.

Andrew Copp won the draw in the Canadiens' end and a shot attempt bounced back to Ehlers, who was waiting just inside the blueline. He stepped into it and fired a shot through traffic to give the Jets a 1-0 lead at 10:38.

The Canadiens tied the score at 1 at 15:13 when Suzuki took a sharp-angle shot that squeaked through Hellebuyck, hugging the post tight.
