Miami (Fla.) 45, Virginia 26: Stephen Morris passed for two touchdowns and the host Hurricanes used a pair of first-half interceptions to help snap a three-game losing streak.
Tracy Howard returned one of the picks for a touchdown while Dallas Crawford rushed for a pair of scores as Miami (8-3, 4-3 ACC) snapped a three-game slide to the Cavaliers. Allen Hurns and Stacy Coley caught TD passes while Morris was 13-of-26 for 214 yards
Kevin Parks rushed for 130 yards and a touchdown for Virginia (2-9, 0-7), which lost its eighth straight game. David Watford struggled to complete 10-of-25 passes for 106 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions while Taquan Mizzell scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter - a 10-yard catch and a 7-yard run.
Howard intercepted Watford on the first play from scrimmage and returned it all the way for 19 yards while Ladarius Gunter picked off Watford's tipped pass and took it 81 yards to the 3-yard line. That set up Dallas Crawford's 1-yard touchdown run with 17 seconds left in the half to give Miami a 21-13 edge at the break.
The Hurricanes extended their lead to 31-13 when Morris connected with Hurns for 26 yards in the third quarter - one play after a 47-yard toss to Hurns. Watford's touchdown pass to Mizzell came with 12:51 remaining and was followed by Crawford's second TD - a 5-yarder with 7:21 left.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Cavaliers S Anthony Harris recorded his nation-best eighth interception in the first half and has a pick in five straight games. Harris was flagged for targeting when he launched himself into Morris in the third quarter and was ejected, meaning he also must sit out the first half of next week's game versus Virginia Tech. ... Miami's David Gilbert returned a fumble 72 yards for a touchdown after Tyriq McCord sacked backup quarterback Greyson Lambert to make it 45-20 with 5:10 remaining. ... Virginia had the ball for 20:33 while holding Miami to three first downs and 112 yards in the first half, which was played in a downpour.
