Scotty Pippen Jr. scored 22 points to lead Vanderbilt to a 75-74 win at Arkansas in a back-and-forth SEC contest on Tuesday.
Trey Thomas scored 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from 3-point range for Vanderbilt (9-4, 1-0 SEC), which has won four straight.
Stanley Umude scored 28 points, Au'Diese Toney scored 20 and JD Notae added 16 points in defeat for Arkansas (10-4, 0-2), which has lost four of its last five.
After a free throw by Arkansas' Chris Lykes with 15.5 seconds left made it 75-74 Vanderbilt, the Razorbacks had a chance to win after two missed free throws by Tyrin Lawrence with 9.2 seconds remaining.
But Myles Stute of Vanderbilt blocked a layup attempt by Umude with 1.1 seconds left, and following the inbounds, Notae missed a 3-point attempt from the wing at the buzzer.
Trailing 64-59, Arkansas closed to within 64-62 on a 3-pointer by Toney with 4:14 remaining.
Vanderbilt took a 71-65 lead with 1:50 remaining, but Umude hit a 3-pointer with 1:37 left to cut Vanderbilt's lead to 71-68.
Vanderbilt answered when Rodney Chatman hit a 3-pointer from the corner with 45.4 seconds left to make it 74-68 Commodores.
Arkansas answered back, cutting Vanderbilt's lead to 74-72 with 20.6 seconds left after a three-point play by Notae.
Arkansas held a 40-35 lead at halftime, but Vanderbilt went on a 7-1 run in the second half to take a 53-51 lead with 11:30 remaining in the game.
Arkansas scored six straight to take a 57-53 lead with 9:38 remaining, but Vanderbilt answered with an 8-0 run to grab a 61-57 lead with 7:07 left.
With Vanderbilt holding a 22-21 lead with 9:51 remaining in the first half, Arkansas went on a 7-0 run to take a 28-22 lead with 8:15 left until halftime.
The Razorbacks built their lead to nine points at 40-31 with 35 seconds remaining in the first half before Vanderbilt scored the final four points of the half.
