Trailing 17-7 at the half, Washington got back in the game on Manning's fumble early in the second half. Torain plowed in from 1 yard out four plays later to cut the deficit to 17-14.
The Colts needed just 1 minute, 57 seconds to respond. Addai capped a four-play, 66 yard march with a 13-yard run to extend the lead to 24-14 with 9:21 left in the third. Addai set up the score with a 45-yard run.
A pair of scoring passes by Manning and a 43-yard field goal by Vinatieri staked the Colts to the 17-7 halftime lead. The margin could have greater but Vinatieri missed field goals of 38 and 48 yards.
