Duke 31, No. 23 Georgia Tech 25: Josh Snead rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown, and the visiting Blue Devils forced three turnovers to snap a 10-game losing streak to the Yellow Jackets.
Thomas Sirk rushed for two scores and Anthony Boone added a passing touchdown for Duke (5-1, 1-1 ACC), which beat Georgia Tech (5-1, 2-1) for the first time since 2003 and for the first time in Atlanta since 1994. Jeremy Cash recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass to spark the Blue Devils to their seventh victory in their past eight road games.
Quarterback Justin Thomas rushed for 119 yards but threw two interceptions for the Yellow Jackets, who had averaged 34.6 points in winning their first five contests. Tim Byerly came on in the final minutes and completed 7-of-10 passes for 125 yards and rushed for two touchdowns.
Zach Laskeyกฏs 4-yard touchdown run with 40 seconds left in the first half pulled Georgia Tech within 14-12, but Duke stopped the ensuing two-point conversion attempt and then dominated most of the second half. Cash recovered a Laskey fumble at the Georgia Tech 46, leading to Sneadกฏs 4-yard touchdown run with 10:28 left in the third quarter.
After Ross Martinกฏs 34-yard field goal just over four minutes later, Sirk scored from 1 yard out จC set up by Cashกฏs interception จC with 8:18 to play. Byerly replaced Thomas and scored on an 11-yard run and a 1-yard plunge to bring the Yellow Jackets within 31-25 with 1:27 left, but Duke recovered the ensuing onside kick and ran out the clock.
