Alouettes 24, Lions 9: Defensive end John Bowman led the way with four sacks as host Montreal stifled B.C. to become the first East Division team with a victory.

Running back Brandon Whitaker scored the only offensive touchdown for the Alouettes (1-1), who opened the scoring with a TD off an interception. Troy Smith completed 17-of-29 passes for 187 yards and added 55 rushing yards while Tanner Marsh was effective in short-yardage situations, gaining 48 yards on seven carries.

Lions quarterback Kevin Glenn picked up where he left off after throwing four interceptions in Week 1, tossing a pair of picks and finishing 13-of-25 for 159 yards. B.C. (0-2) recorded negative total yardage on offence in the opening quarter and did not score a touchdown until 1:20 remained in the contest.

Scott Paxson picked off a pass by Glenn 7:43 into the game and sent a lateral to Chip Cox, who ran into the end zone for the gameกฏs first touchdown. Whitakerกฏs 32-yard scoring run gave Montreal a 14-0 advantage with 1:14 left in the first quarter.

Bowman sacked Glenn twice in the first quarter and two more times in the second for a cumulative loss of 29 yards. Alouettes linebacker Marc-Olivier Brouillette intercepted Glenn in the end zone late in the third quarter, but Lions backup John Beck found Courtney Taylor for a 15-yard touchdown late in the fourth.
