Alouettes 40, Roughriders 9: Jonathan Crompton threw three touchdown passes as host Montreal routed Saskatchewan to move into a first-place tie atop the East Division.
Crompton completed just 12-of-25 passes but racked up 225 yards to pace the Alouettes (6-8), who have won five of six to draw even with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Toronto Argonauts in the East. Duron Carter had four catches for 107 yards and two touchdowns while Brandon London added 68 receiving yards and a score.
Tino Sunseri threw for just 72 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Roughriders (9-6), who have dropped three straight to remain in a second-place tie with Edmonton in the West Division. Anthony Allen was the lone standout for Saskatchewan, compiling 126 total yards and a touchdown.
Saskatchewan seized the lead on Sunseri's 11-yard scoring strike to Allen late in the first quarter, but Montreal responded with a dominant second period. Tanner Marsh's 1-yard plunge tied the game 5:10 into the quarter, and Carter gathered a Crompton pass across the middle and bolted 61 yards for the go-ahead score and a 14-7 Montreal lead entering the break.
Carter's 25-yard scoring reception padded the lead less than three minutes into the third quarter, and London added to the rout with 4:22 remaining in the third - hauling in Compton's high, arcing 30-yard pass between two defenders for his first career CFL score. The Roughriders didn't threaten the rest of the way, settling for a safety early in the fourth quarter before turning the ball over on the subsequent possession.
