Roughriders 16, Alouettes 11: John Chick added three sacks to his league-best total as host Saskatchewan became the latest team to shut down Montrealกฏs league-worst offence.
Darian Durant completed 19-of-30 passes for 221 yards and found Rob Bagg for a touchdown for the Roughriders (5-2), who extended their winning streak to four games. Durant added 22 rushing yards while defensive back Tristan Jackson recorded his second interception of the season.
The only touchdown for the Alouettes (1-6) was scored on a missed field goal return by Duron Carter in the fourth quarter. Alex Brink was 19-of-31 for 187 yards and ran for a team-high 32 yards in his first CFL start since 2012 while John Bowman added a pair of sacks to lead a solid defensive effort.
Durant connected with Bagg for a 30-yard touchdown on the opening play of the fourth quarter, giving Saskatchewan a 12-4 lead. Carterกฏs 32-yard return with 3:34 remaining brought Montreal within one, but Josh Bartel kicked an 83-yard punt for a single and Chris Milo made a 32-yard field goal with 12 seconds left to force a desperate final drive by the Alouettes.
Brandon Whitaker fumbled at Saskatchewanกฏs 8-yard line in the first quarter in what was Montrealกฏs best opportunity to score a touchdown on offence. Brinkกฏs longest completion was a 20-yard toss to Whitaker late in the fourth, but it was negated by a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty on S.J. Green.
