Welcome to Week 17 in the NFL season, where there are a few loose ends yet to tie up. The top seed in each conference is still up for grabs, and the Denver Broncos are desperately trying to hold off the Colts, Bengals, and Dolphins for the final Wild Card in the AFC.
In the NFC West, Seattle went from controlling its destiny to buckling up and hoping the wheel lands in their favor. And If that isn’t enough, by God the Atlanta Falcons control their playoff destiny, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (who seem infinitely better than Atlanta) are on the outside looking in.

Expert Week 17 moneyline picks
Chiefs vs. Steelers
Steelers (+210)
The Pittsburgh Steelers have the inside track to claiming the AFC North if they can win out. This will be the third straight week they face one of the league's best and they’ve looked uninspiring in losses to Philly and Baltimore.
The only time KC has been exposed this year was on the road. This inexplicable season can’t just keep being this. The Steelers get a signature W before the playoffs.
Ravens vs. Texans
Ravens (-205)
There’s no team I’d rather face in the AFC bracket than the Texans, who have just a win over the Bills to count as quality in building a 9-6 record.

Seahawks vs. Bears
Seahawks (-175)
Seattle needs a win, a Rams loss to the Cardinals, and a win over the Rams in the Week 18 finale to claim the NFC West title and their only path to the playoffs.
They should handle the hapless Bears, then hope a freshly eliminated Arizona can offer some assistance.

Chargers vs. Patriots
Chargers (-230)
The Patriots showed some heart as they went into Buffalo and had the Bills concerned for the better part of the first half.
This used to be a classic Chargers-crushing defeat scenario, but Jim Harbaugh has this group playing tough football.

Broncos vs. Bengals
Broncos (+140)
Denver has to be feeling the weight of the playoff world crashing on them. They blew a 21-10 lead over the Chargers in what would have been a clincher, and now get a desperate Bengals bunch that has a legitimate postseason shot if they can beat Denver.
Still, Cincinnati’s defense has been shielded nicely as it’s faced a cream-puff set of QBs the last three weeks.

Cardinals vs. Rams
Cardinals (+200)
Arizona’s playoff hopes went up in smoke in an OT loss to Carolina. There might not be a better remedy than throwing a wrench into a division foe’s plans.
The Rams put up just 242 total yards in a rock fight win over the Jets. Kyler Murray can turn this into a Wild West kind of result.

Jets vs. Bills
Bills (-470)
We’re just two games away from closing the book on Aaron Rodgers in 2024-25. Good.

Panthers vs. Buccaneers
Buccaneers (-410)
The Bucs picked the worst time to lay down a stinker, dropping a 26-24 decision to the Cowboys, and tumbling outside the playoff picture in the NFC.
Tampa should handle Carolina and New Orleans to close it out and hope Atlanta falters.
Colts vs. Giants
Colts (-455)
Jonathan Taylor made up for his TD gaffe in Denver in a big way. He should run wild against the G-Men, but it still won’t be enough in the big playoff picture.
The Giants go quietly into the night and secure a better draft pick in April.

Titans (-102)
This is a matchup of the sixth and seventh-lowest scoring teams in the NFL. If you were to poll NFL fans on what would be the least favorable matchup, Titans-Jags could be it.

Packers vs. Vikings
Packers (+105)
Maybe I was a week early in the Sam Darnold Cinderella story hitting midnight. Green Bay can put a real dent in the Vikes’ hopes for a top seed and an NFC North crown with a win.
Minnesota’s second-ranked scoring defense can only do so much to hold down the NFL’s seventh-best scoring offense if Darnold can’t put up enough points, which is how I see things playing out.
Raiders vs. Saints
Saints (-130)
You couldn’t pay me to watch a minute of this. I won’t even pick players in Daily Fantasy for this one.
Dolphins vs. Browns
Browns (+205)
Tony Romo laid out Miami’s playoff scenario well. Win out, and have Denver lose out, and they’re in.
Unfortunately, Miami and cold weather don’t work well, and this high-octane engine breaks down in frigid Cleveland.
Cowboys vs. Eagles
Eagles (-425)
How an afternoon can bunger up an entire situation. Philly’s 36-30 OT loss to the Commanders means they’re probably out of the chase for the NFC top seed, have still not locked up the NFC East, and Jalen Hurts’ status is still uncertain after leaving the Washington game in the first quarter with a concussion.
There’s probably no team that wants to kick them while they're down more than Dallas. Alas, they just don’t have enough horses to do it.
Falcons vs. Commanders
Commanders (-205)
Michael Penix Jr. went from Top 10 draft pick riding pine to his first career start and is now in career start No. 2 with a chance to clinch the NFC South.
Unfortunately, this story takes a major crash when the competition levels up from New York to Washington, and it won’t be pretty.

Lions vs. 49ers
Lions (-198)
San Francisco’s playoff hopes are done after falling in Miami. The Niners’ offense finally buckled once it got past its third-string running back. They’re just too dinged up to compete.
Detroit remembers the sting of that NFC title loss a year ago. Not only do they roll, but they run at least one trick play for a TD.
