Tournament where top 10 (or 15 or 20 or whatever) pays all the same and you just need one more player knocked out to be in the money you have sufficient chips to fold it down.
This.
Obviously pocket Aces is the best starting hand in Texas hold em, but at the same time considering how often they are beat its just not worth taking the risk of getting knocked out of a tournament in certain key situations.
Although I admit I have never done that before and I would have trouble ever doing it preflop.

The objective is to advance in the tournament and/or game, not to win a single hand.
4 players all in. Only 3 will be eliminated.
You have aces. Player A has Jacks. Player B has AK. Player C is a jackass and has 8,9 Diamonds.
This situation puts you (with AA) as a 59% favorite to win the hand. You have a 41% chance of either being eliminated, or being severely crippled in terms of your chip stack.
If you fold, you have a 100% chance of keeping all your chips, and advancing 3 more places in the tournament.
You fold the aces, 10 times out of 10.

And how is depeche right and I'm wrong? he just took out the word satellite (aka a tourny where you win a seat -- the ONLY kind of tourny where multiple winners win the same thing) out and put in that 'they all win the same amount of $', what kind of a tourny is that??
What a dope.
In double or nothing tourneys you all win the same amount. he's not a dope

Only situation I would EVER fold pocket aces preflop is if only the top two cash with a substantial paycheck and one went all in, the other called and it is one me. Both who went all in have nearly identical chips so you know one is going to be eliminated. I would happily fold pocket aces, guarantee the cash and then hope to get all money money in with at least a chance at a coin flip for the double up and get back into trying to win the tourney. But NOTHING and I mean NOTHING would piss me off more than get my pocket aces cracked three handed and get nothing out of the tournament than a good time. Just my two cents.

Okay on that note he is not a dope
But I was really talking about him saying that you should fold AA with 4 all-in's ahead of you in ANY situation because your odds drop below 50%
Of course your odds drop below 50% -- but it isn't against one person, your odds are still the best on the table. You have an advantage against every other player on the table, and with 4 all-ins the best hands against AA (7-8 suited and things like that) will probably be out of the hand.

I wish I did once... BAD BEAT UP.... I was playing in a 250k tourny online, I'm in 9th place, only 36 people left. I get pocket rockets and slow play them. The flop comes Ah 9S 5S I flop a set. The fucking chip leader pushes all in... I said to myself this jerk off his two spades and is trying to buy the pot, but how do I fold? I of course shove all in having the nuts... everyone else folds... turn the cards over, he has just what I thought... two spades and catches the flush on the turn to knock me out in 35th place ($1200) Talk about fucking pissed! Thats the one time I wished I hit fold by mistake.

We've all been there. I've had my shares unfortunately. Problem is we all tend to remember bad beats with AA instead of the good times when we win with them.

yes, that's true. people also like to think that AA get "broken all the time." when in fact it's like once out of every four times. pretty common and by the odds.

Tournament where top 10 (or 15 or 20 or whatever) pays all the same and
you just need one more player knocked out to be in the money you have
sufficient chips to fold it down.
Perfect example is those $500 Full Tilt Main even qualifiers where 200 WSOP main event packages are awarded and 1st is the same prize as 150 or 200 or whatever. On the bubble in that situation you lay down AA every time no questions asked

You should think about folding pocket aces anytime there are already 4 people all in ahead of you. Even against random hands you could be less than 50% to win against 4 players . Going all in knowing you have a less than a 50% chance at winning isnt a good iead against multiple people
Anyone that says never should stop playing poker now because you are a donk
And anyone who folds it unless there are millions on the line is a box. Keep playing for the chance to just make the money instead of win the tournament losers.

I once folded AA at a fulltilt tourney which was a 23$ rebuy a few months ago. I made the final table and was guaranteed at least 300$ for 9th place. I was 6th in chips and somehow made it to the top 5 where i had the AA and was lowstacked and small blind. 2 othere ahead of me went all in and the BB was chip leader.
I folded the AA. The 2 players showed KK and AK respectively and the monster chip leader who was big bling had 10J suited. Well the monster chip leader ends up with a Q high straight and the KK and AK were out. I moved up to top 3 ans was severely shot stacked and finished with 2300$ for 3rd place.
In a real life game I most likely won't fold the AA, but online with 3 or 4 players ahead of me all-in in a pivotal position which means more money or going home I would fold em. My 2 cents.
