A week after failing to qualify in Q1 of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix qualifying round, Lando Norris has taken pole ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix. Norris managed to navigate to fourth last week from the 17th spot, putting on one of the more impressive showings this season.
Can Norris convert his pole to a win? Or will runner-up Max Verstappen finally end his race-losing streak?

Singapore Grand Prix 2024 post-qualifying picks
Lando Norris to win
Lando Norris has had quite the eventful season, with outcomes ranging from his first career win in Miami to an untimely crash in Austria to last week's strange failure to qualify before turning that into a fourth-place finish.
That last showing is a perfect demonstration of why Norris is a great pick from the pole, even if that's a safe pick in a vacuum. Norris is a notoriously steady driver who finishes worse than his starting position only once in a blue moon.
And he has a solid track history here, as last year's Singapore Grand Prix kickstarted his incredible late-season breakout where he podiumed five times in six races — including four second-place finishes.
And he even posted a fourth-place finish here in 2022 — his second-best finish of that season.
George Russell to win
Russell had a good bounce-back showing last week, hitting the podium after back-to-back seventh-place finishes following his unfortunate disqualification in Belgium after he had "won" the race.
Admittedly, his track history here is rather rough, as he failed to finish after a crash last year and then outright finished 14th the year prior.
But Russell, despite his relatively rough start to the season, has recently shown a frequent ceiling that makes him a threat to win a race every once in a while — at least at a rate that is better than his implied odds tend to suggest.
Charles Leclerc fastest lap
LeClerc failed to convert his dominant qualifying round last week into a race win but still managed to finish second in an otherwise solid showing. His form as a whole of late has been superb, hitting the podium in four straight races.
He'll begin Sunday's race from the ninth position after a disappointing qualifying round that saw him get penalized for exceeding track limits on Turn 2.
But his car and recent form are undeniable, and winning last week's qualifying round by a whole three-tenths of a second is a perfect demonstration of that. And purely in terms of this prop, his starting position further down the grid gives him potentially more room to push some high-tier pace.

Singapore Grand Prix 2024 pre-qualifying favorites
McLaren has caught and passed Red Bull in the Constructors' Championship standings and also tops the betting for the Singapore GP. Lando Norris (+225) is the pre-qualifying favorite at the Marina Bay Street Circuit over teammate Oscar Piastri (+300). The two Ferraris comprise the next two betting choices in Charles Leclerc (+340) and defending race champion Carlos Sainz (+650).
Max Verstappen is the fifth and final driver under +1,000 in the pre-qualifying odds at +850. Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez sits at +3,500, behind Lewis Hamilton (+1,400) and George Russell (+1,400) of Mercedes.
Qualifying through a bit of those odds in a loop, though, with Leclerc and Sainz falling considerably due to lower points in the starting grid. The latter's chances of repeating got a lot tougher after he crashed out during the third round of qualifying to open in 10th.
Meanwhile, Hamilton's odds have shortened by earning the third spot on the grid with only Norris and Verstappen ahead of him.

Understanding F1 betting odds
The most popular way to bet on Formula 1 odds is by simply picking the winner of a particular race. Other popular F1 betting options include which car/constructor will win and whether or not a particular race car driver will end up on the podium with a Top-3 finish.
F1 race odds usually look like this:
- Sergio Perez +1,400
This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to profit $1,400 if Perez wins that particular race. If one driver is especially dominant, you might see a minus sign (-) ahead of that driver's odds like this:
- Max Verstappen -120
This means that you would need to bet $120 to win $100 on Verstappen winning the race.
