Eli Manning threw two touchdown passes and Brandon Jacobs rushed for two more as the New York Giants defeated the Detroit Lions 28-20 at the New Meadowlands Stadium Sunday.
Manning completed 20 for 30 passes for 177 yards as the Giants (4-2) won their third straight. He threw scoring strikes of 33 yards to Mario Manningham and a 1-yard toss to tight end Travis Beckum.
Ahmad Bradshaw led the New York running game with 133 yards on 19 carries.
Detroit quarterback Shaun Hill opened the scoring with a 14-yard scoring pass to Nate Burleson. But Hill injured his hand in the first half and was replaced by Drew Stanton.
New York led 14-10 and made it 21-10 early in the second half on Beckumกฏs touchdown.
Stanton then hooked up with Calvin Johnson on an 87-yard touchdown pass to close the gap to 21-17.
Detroit (1-5) later mounted a drive in the fourth quarter, but Burleson fumbled giving New York possession at 42-yard line. The Giants scored three plays later to extend the lead to 28-17.
Jason Hanson booted a 50-yard field goal to close the gap to 28-20 and Detroit got the ball back, but Antrel Rolle picked off Stantonกฏs pass in the final seconds.
The game was delayed for several minutes in the fourth quarter when Detroitกฏs Zack Follett suffered an apparent head injury during a kickoff return. The linebacker remained motionless on the field before he was removed from the field on a cart.
