Louisiana-Monroe 31, Louisiana-Lafayette 28: Kolton Browning threw a pair of touchdown passes and the visiting Warhawks became bowl eligible by ending the Ragin' Cajuns eight-game winning streak.
Browning finished 18-for-28 for 247 yards and Centarius Donald and DeVontae McNeal both scored on the ground for Louisiana-Monroe (6-6, 4-3 Sun Belt). Despite the loss, Louisiana-Lafayette still clinched at least a share of its second Sun Belt title when Arkansas State lost to Western Kentucky earlier in the day.
Elijah McGuire paced Louisiana-Lafayette (8-3, 5-1) with 119 yards on 14 carries, including a touchdown, but the Ragin' Cajuns got little from quarterback Terrance Broadway, who finished 13-for-27 for 178 yards with three interceptions before suffering a right arm injury in the fourth quarter. Freshman Brooks Haack relieved Broadway with 10:30 left to play and the Ragin' Cajuns trailing 31-21 and threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jamal Robinson with 53 seconds left, but they couldn't recover the ensuing onside kick.
The Ragin' Cajuns took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, getting a pair of short rushing scores from Broadway and McGuire. Browning later connected with Ajalen Holley on a 29-yard touchdown pass and McNeal scored on a 77-yard run to tie the game early in the second quarter.
Broadway gave Louisiana-Lafayette a 21-14 lead before the half, hooking up with Darryl Surgent from 24 yards out. But Louisiana-Monroe took the lead for good in the third quarter as Browning found Rashon Ceaser open over the middle for a 16-yard score and Donald ran one in from 4 yards away.
