No. 2 Alabama 32, No. 3 Georgia 28: AJ McCarronกฏs 45-yard touchdown pass to Amari Cooper with 3:15 remaining lifted the Crimson Tide past the Bulldogs and into the BCS Championship Game against Notre Dame and gave Alabama its 23rd SEC title, but first since 2009.
Georgia drove deep into Alabama territory, but the clock ran out when linebacker C.J. Mosley deflected Aaron Murray's pass to the end zone and Georgia's Chris Conley caught it at the 5-yard line. Alabama's Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon combined for three rushing touchdowns and the Tide (12-1) ran for 350 yards, an SEC Championship Game record.
Georgia (11-2) lost despite returning a blocked field goal for a touchdown and getting two rushing touchdowns and 122 yards from freshman Todd Gurley. His 10-yard score with 12:54 left put the Bulldogs up 28-25, but McCarron had the last word.
The Bulldogs led 14-10 when Cornelius Washington blocked the field-goal try จC the Bulldogsกฏ fifth block this season -- and Alec Ogletree scooped it up for a 55-yard score. Alabama closed to 21-18 on Yeldonกฏs 10-yard touchdown run, with Yeldon also getting the 2-point conversion. Lacyกฏs 1-yard scoring run put the Tide ahead 25-21 on the first play of the fourth quarter.
McCarron finished 13-of-21 for 162 yards with a touchdown and an interception, while Lacy rushed for 181 yards and Yeldon finished with 153. Murray went 18-of-33 for 265 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Since 2008, Alabama is 49-0 when rushing for at least 150 yards. กญ Alabama NT Jesse Williams left in the third quarter with a right knee injury, but returned to make a key third-down stop in the fourth quarter. กญ Gurleyกฏs second score was his 16th rushing TD this season, breaking Georgiaกฏs freshman record of 15 set by Herschel Walker in 1980.
