No. 4 Kansas State 55, No. 17 Texas Tech 24: Collin Klein threw for two touchdowns and ran for two others as the host Wildcats pulled away in the second half to remain undefeated.
John Hubert rushed for 64 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Wildcats (8-0, 5-0 Big 12) remained the only unbeaten team in the conference.
Heisman Trophy front-runner Klein turned the tide in Kansas State's favor early in the third quarter by throwing for one touchdown and running for another in a 59-second span to extend the lead to 27-10 as the Wildcats scored more than 50 points in back-to-back conference games for the third time in school history.
Kansas State made it a laugher early in the fourth quarter by scoring twice in 61 seconds, the second on Arthur Brown's 37-yard interception return for a 48-17 lead, handing Texas Tech (6-2, 3-2) its second loss in three games.
Klein threw for 233 yards on 19 of 26 attempts, including a 21-yard strike to Tramaine Thompson on the opening drive of the third quarter, and rushed for 83 yards on 12 carries with scoring runs of 16 and 22 yards as the Wildcats broke away from a 13-10 halftime lead.
Seth Doege threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Eric Ward to stake the Red Raiders to an early 7-0 lead, but he was contained the rest of the way and finished 35-of-50 for 331 yards with two TDs and an interception. Ward had 11 catches for 161 yards and two touchdowns.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Wildcats, ranked third in the BCS standings, have won their first eight games for the first time since opening the 1999 season with nine consecutive wins. ... Doege, who entered the game leading the nation in passing touchdowns, threw his 29th of the season on the opening drive of the game to surpass his total from last season. ... Meshak Williams blocked a 50-yard field goal attempt by Texas Tech's Ryan Bustin with 4:59 left in the first half, the first kick the Red Raiders had blocked since last season against Kansas State.
