No. 16 Louisville 45, Pittsburgh 35: Senorise Perry ran for four touchdowns and Teddy Bridgewater passed for 304 yards and a score as the visiting Cardinals snapped a four-game losing streak against the Panthers.
Trailing 21-17, Bridgewater connected with DeVante Parker for a 75-yard scoring strike on the first play of the second half as Louisville (6-0, 1-0 Big East) took the lead for good. Parker caught four passes for 153 yards to end a five-game losing streak in Big East openers for the Cardinals.
Perry finished with 101 yards on 12 carries, including a pair of short touchdown runs in the third quarter to extend the lead to 38-21. Perry sealed the game on a 59-yard gallop for a score with 2:25 remaining to make it 45-28.
Pittsburgh quarterback Tino Sunseri passed for two scores and ran for another, totaling 287 yards through the air. The Panthers (2-4, 0-3) led by seven points three times in the first half and got one of their scores when Todd Thomas blocked a punt and covered it in the end zone.
Louisville answered Pittsburgh touchdowns twice in the first half and went for it on fourth down at its own 45 with 22 seconds left in the second quarter. Bridgewater hit Parker for 27 yards, setting up John Wallaceกฏs 45-yard field goal that cut the Cardinals deficit to 21-17 at halftime.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Pittsburgh is off to an 0-3 start in the Big East for the first time since 2001. กญ Louisvilleกฏs defense finished with five sacks. กญ Ray Graham now has 4,173 career all-purpose yards, moving into second place past Gibby Welch (1925-27) on Pittsburghกฏs all-time list.
