Louisiana-Lafayette 34, Georgia State 31: Terrance Broadway and Jamal Robinson hooked up for a pair of touchdown passes, including the go-ahead score with 3:34 left, as the host Ragin' Cajuns held on for a Sun Belt victory.
Elijah McGuire rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown on six carries and Alonzo Harris added 60 yards and a pair of scores on the ground for Louisiana-Lafayette (2-3, 1-0 Sun Belt). Broadway went 20-for-26 for 216 yards and two TDs and Robinson caught eight passes for 119 yards and two scores.
Marcus Caffey rushed for 90 yards and three TDs on 27 carries for the Panthers (1-4, 0-2), whose final drive stalled when they came up two yards short on fourth-and-6 from their own 29. Nick Arbuckle finished 19-of-27 for 276 yards and Donovan Harden had four catches for 91 yards.
McGuire busted a 54-yard TD run on the Ragin' Cajuns' first possession, but the Panthers answered with two TD drives of 90-plus yards to set the tone for the offensive shootout. Broadway's 19-yard strike to Robinson tied it at 14 before Wil Lutz connected for a 48-yard field goal as time expired to give Georgia State a 17-14 halftime lead.
Harris and Caffey traded 1-yard TD runs in the third, and each punched in another short TD in the fourth as Georgia State took a 31-28 lead into the final minutes. Broadway guided the Ragin' Cajuns 75 yards in seven plays, and Robinson pulled in a 21-yard touchdown despite a defensive pass interference call for the deciding score.
