No. 15 UCLA 59, New Mexico State 13: Jordon James rushed for a career-high 164 yards and two touchdowns and Brett Hundley threw for three scores as the Bruins routed the visiting Aggies.
Hundley, who completed 23-of-36 passes for 281 yards and two interceptions, put UCLA (3-0) ahead 31-0 with 31 seconds left in the second quarter on a 21-yard touchdown pass to Devin Fuller. The Bruins finished with 692 total yards and scored 50-plus points in back-to-back home games for the first time since 1973.
UCLA, which scored 38 consecutive points to beat Nebraska 41-21 last week, led 45-0 before New Mexico State (0-4) broke the shutout on Andrew McDonaldกฏs 33-yard touchdown pass to Adam Shapiro with 14:24 left in the fourth quarter. Brandon Betancourt had 18 carries for 95 yards and a score for the Aggies, who have lost their first four games by an average of 34.8 points.
James put the Bruins on the board with a 4-yard touchdown run with 2:34 left in the first quarter, and Hundley connected with Steven Manfro for a 20-yard score on their next possession. A total of 17 different receivers caught at least one pass for UCLA, which has averaged 52.7 points in its three wins.
Malcolm Jones rushed for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, when the Bruins rested most of their starters. UCLA had 40 first downs compared to 22 for New Mexico State, which went 1-for-11 on third-down conversions.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Bruins ran their first offensive play with just 10 players to honor wide receiver Nick Pasquale, who was killed two weeks ago when he was struck by a vehicle. กญ Aggies safety Anthony Edwards was ejected early in the third quarter for targeting. กญ UCLA is off next week before opening Pac-12 play at Utah on Oct. 3, while New Mexico State hosts San Diego State next Saturday.
