Middle Tennessee 42, Florida Atlantic 35 (OT): Logan Kilgore connected with Kyle Griswould on a 19-yard touchdown pass in overtime as the visiting Blue Raiders defeated the Owls in a battle of former Sun Belt Conference foes.
After Griswould reeled in the go-ahead catch, Middle Tennessee (3-1, 1-1 Conference USA) made a defensive stand as Dearco Nolan sacked Jaquez Johnson on the Blue Raiders' 9 to seal its eighth win in eleven meetings against Florida Atlantic (1-3, 0-2).
Reggie Whatley gave Middle Tennessee a 35-28 lead with 1:32 remaining in the fourth quarter after he raced 64 yards for his third touchdown. The junior, who rushed for 154 yards, also scored from 15 and 19 yards out while Jordan Parker carried the ball 28 times for 115 yards and a touchdown.
Whatley's final touchdown looked like it would stand before Lucky Whitehead reeled in a 21-yard scoring pass from Johnson with three seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
Johnson threw for three touchdowns - including a 7-yard scoring strike to Daniel McKinney with 3:50 remaining in the fourth quarter to forge a 28-28 tie. Johnson also ran for a pair of scores.
