Bethune-Cookman 34, Florida International 13: Anthony Jordan ran for 150 yards and a touchdown to lead a tenacious running attack for the Wildcats in a road win over the Panthers.
Fellow running back Cary White totaled 69 yards and also found the end zone for Bethune-Cookman (3-0), who controlled the play throughout, recording 19 first downs to Florida International's nine. Quarterback Quentin Williams complimented the running game, adding 69 yards and a touchdown to make up for a negligible passing attack.
Panthers quarterback Jake Medlock was picked up by Tim Burke early in the fourth quarter and the senior returned the interception 92 yards to put the game out of reach. Medlock, who managed an 8-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver T.J. Lowder early in the second quarter, connected on 9-of-15 passing attempts for 149 yards before being replaced by sophomore E.J. Hilliard in the fourth quarter.
Less than four minutes into the first quarter, Jordan took a handoff from Williams and dusted the Florida International defense for a 58-yard touchdown to open the scoring. After the Panthers answered with an eight-play, 90-yard drive, culminating in the scoring pass to Lowder, White's 5-yard scamper sent the Wildcats into halftime with a 14-7 lead.
Williams added to the lead after the break, finding the end zone with a 15-yard run midway through the third quarter before the Bethune-Cookman defense forced a three-and-out on the ensuing drive. White's 43-yard touchdown run capped the next series for the Wildcats, effectively securing the victory.
