Louisiana-Monroe 38, Idaho 31: Centarius Donald scored his third touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run with nine seconds remaining and the Warhawks knocked off the visiting Vandals.
Donald finished with 111 yards rushing and quarterback Pete Thomas completed 24-of-44 passes for 384 yards and two touchdowns for Louisiana-Monroe (2-0, 1-0 Sun Belt). Ajalen Holley was the top target for Thomas, catching six passes for a career-high 175 yards and a touchdown.
Matt Linehan completed 26-of-47 passes for 324 yards and three touchdowns for Idaho but was intercepted twice. Jerrel Brown rushed for 117 yards, Deon Watson caught seven passes for 98 yards and a touchdown and Joshua McCain made eight catches for 93 yards and two scores for the Vandals (0-1, 0-1).
The Warhawks started the final drive on their own 27 with 1:11 left and quickly moved the ball downfield behind a 29-yard reception by Kenzee Jackson and a 36-yard catch by Tyler Cain to put the ball at the Idaho 8. Two plays later, Donald scored on his short burst for the winning points.
Idaho twice erased double-digit leads to get even with the Warhawks, the second time on a 32-yard touchdown pass from Linehan to Watson with 4:22 left in the fourth. Louisiana-Monroe earlier scored three touchdowns in the final 6:03 of the first quarter, which was broken up by a 2-hour, 6-minute weather delay, before Idaho answered with a pair of touchdowns in the second to knot the contest at 21-21.
