Eskimos 41, Blue Bombers 9: Mike Reilly threw for 197 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns as host Edmonton routed Winnipeg to clinch a playoff berth.
Reilly was 19-for-31 passing and backup quarterback Pat White also scored a rushing touchdown for the Eskimos (10-5), who took sole possession of second place in the West Division. Odell Willis had two sacks and forced two fumbles, and Dexter McCoil returned a fumble for a touchdown, while Hugh OกฏNeill was 3-for-4 on field goal attempts.
Drew Willy completed 4-of-9 passes for 23 yards before leaving with a hand injury. Backup quarterback Brian Brohm was 18-for-33 passing for 219 yards and one interception for the Blue Bombers (6-9), who lost their sixth straight game. Lirim Hajrullahu accounted for all of Winnipegกฏs points with three field goals.
Edmonton took a 10-0 lead in the first quarter and pulled away in the second, starting with McCoilกฏs 22-yard fumble return touchdown to make it 21-0 with 5:48 remaining in the first half. Willy hurt his hand attempting to tackle McCoil, and Reilly tacked on a pair of short touchdown runs to close out the quarter.
Hajrullahu chipped away at Edmontonกฏs advantage with field goals of 43, 31, and 26 yards in the second half, but it wasnกฏt enough to bring Winnipeg close. The Blue Bombers managed just 12 first downs in the contest.
