Josh Reddick delivered a tiebreaking two-run single during an eight-run seventh inning to help the Arizona Diamondbacks record an 11-6 comeback victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night in Phoenix.
Josh VanMeter had three RBIs in the seventh inning, with a run-scoring triple and two-run double, as the Diamondbacks sent 13 batters to the plate. VanMeter, who didn't start, went 3-for-3 to help Arizona win a third straight game for the first time since April 25-27.
Gregory Polanco and John Nogowski each smacked two-run homers for the Pirates, who lost their third straight game.
Arizona recovered from a 5-1 deficit by scoring the next 10 runs to win for the sixth time in 11 games.
The Diamondbacks put together four singles in the bottom of the fifth, with Nick Ahmed's single to right driving in Reddick.
Eduardo Escobar led off the sixth with a walk and scored on Christian Walker's double to left as Arizona moved within 5-3.
The seventh-inning outburst was ignited when VanMeter delivered a run-scoring triple off left-hander Austin Davis (0-1) and scored on Ahmed's tying single to right.
Two walks allowed the Diamondbacks to load the bases with one out, and Clay Holmes struck out Kole Calhoun prior to giving up Reddick's two-run single to left-center.
David Peralta followed with a run-scoring single to left-center to make it 8-5. Daulton Varsho's infield single pushed the lead to four before VanMeter boomed his double to deep center -- Bryan Reynolds was unable to corral it.
Pittsburgh's Ke'Bryan Hayes had a run-scoring single in the ninth.
Arizona right-hander J.B. Bukauskas (2-2) struck out two in a perfect seventh to receive the victory.
Pirates left-hander Tyler Anderson allowed three runs and seven hits over six innings. He struck out six and walked one.
Right-hander Taylor Widener started for the Diamondbacks and struck out eight in 4 2/3 innings. But he served up two homers while allowing five runs and eight hits and walking one.
Pittsburgh took a 2-0 lead in the fourth when Nogowski drew a one-out walk and Polanco followed with a 414-foot blast to right. It was Polanco's 10th homer of the season.
Arizona got a run back in the bottom of the inning when Josh Rojas singled with one out and scored on Escobar's double to right.
Ben Gamel's fielder's choice plated a run for Pittsburgh in the fifth, and Nogowski followed with a two-run blast to left to make it 5-1.
The 387-foot homer was Nogowski's first career homer in 32 big league games.
