Prized free agent Juan Soto will soon decide on where he will play baseball in 2025 and beyond. Updated Soto odds show the New York Yankees as the favorites with a -105 price. The New York Mets (+100), Boston Red Sox (+250), and Toronto Blue Jays (+500) are also making strong pushes to sign the star outfielder.
Soto has apparently started narrowing his choices down, though there's no concrete information as to who is officially out of the running.

The San Diego Padres traded Juan Soto to the New York Yankees in early December 2023. He is now hitting free agency for the first time at just 26 years of age because he debuted at 19 as a member of the Washington Nationals, who later dealt him to San Diego as part of a massive rebuild.
In seven MLB seasons, Soto has slashed .285/.421/.532 with 201 home runs, 592 RBI, and 769 walks. That last part is extra important because despite his youth, he exhibits plate discipline far beyond his years and has done so since Day 1.
Historically, the Yankees have signed many of the game's top players to lucrative, long-term deals. And you don't have to go back to the days of Roger Clemens and Alex Rodriguez for examples. They landed Gerrit Cole on a nine-year, $324-million contract ahead of 2020. They re-signed Aaron Judge to the tune of $360 million over nine seasons before 2023. And they've absorbed big contracts in trades, like that of Giancarlo Stanton, who is still owed $86 million over the next three seasons plus a $25-million team option for 2028. Some of that is being covered by the Marlins, but not all.
Soto, based on both his age and ability, is in line for one of the biggest free-agent contracts in baseball history — bidding is reportedly past $600 million among the remaining suitors. And even though it came just after the Yankees lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2024 World Series, Soto isn't offering assurances that he's staying in the Bronx.
Updated Juan Soto odds
Yankees Juan Soto odds (-105)
Soto will have to be overwhelmed with cash to leave the New York Yankees. Bleacher Report's Jon Heyman recently said, "[Soto] loved that clubhouse. He loved Aaron Judge. I think [the Yankees] have a good shot. I feel better about their chances this week than I did last week."
Mets Juan Soto odds (+100)
The New York Mets (+100) are now slightly behind the crosstown Yankees to land Soto. Soto recently visited Steve Cohen's mansion in Beverly Hills. The other Soto contenders met with him at agent Scott Boras' house.
Red Sox Juan Soto odds (+250)
The Boston Red Sox seem intent on making a splash this off-season. Several rumors swirled online over the weekend that a deal was imminent or even agreed upon, but the legitimacy of these rumors is suspect at best.
Blue Jays Juan Soto odds (+500)
The Toronto Blue Jays may seem unlikely, but after just missing out on Shohei Ohtani a year ago, perhaps the lone Canadian franchise is intent on swimming in deeper free-agent waters on the regular. The Blue Jays are reportedly the highest bidder in the proceedings, so despite uncertainty surrounding Vladimir Guerrero Jr., landing Soto might not be as farfetched as some make it out to be.
