Just got back from Vegas..had a great time..bet some baseball, played some table games, ate great food, had plenty to drink and just visited every sportsbook I could....
I like reading other members posts on here about their trips and opinions, so I thought I would offer mine.
First of all, stayed at two places during the trip..Excalibur and the Hilton...
Stayed at Excalibur because I was comped...dont care if I ever get free rooms again, I would rather pay to stay somewhere else..Just dont like the place ...ate at their Sherwood Restaurant..ordered a basic omelet for breakast one morning. took about an hour to show up. The new mexican eatery in there right by tower 2 is the only bright spot that I can talk about with the Excalibur..its fairly new, price is ok, and the food was pretty good...
2nd place I stayed again was the Hilton...Id give it a C overall. Rooms were nice (I upgraded to the Resort rooms), I was suprised how small the actual casino floor was, especially the table game area..( I never play slots), Restaurants were ok, and the sportsbook was awesome...(will get to that later)
Sportsbooks Reviews
#1 Excalibur
Grade: C-
Very small book, shitty TVs. The only reason I watched a round of games here was because it was so dead..not many people hangin out in this book...Bet about 500 a game, and was given a hand ful of drink tickets....I wish the 50+ year old waitresses could have come around more than twice a game, but what can you do...
#2 MGM Grand
Grade: B-
Very dissapointed in this book..Ive been there before, and only swung through there to place a bet..Decent amount of TVs. lot of betting windows, but i hate how its set up....Its busy, and draws alot of people there, but its basically "in the way" of everything else..so many people passing through there makes it way to congested
#3 Mandalay Bay
Grade: B+
HUGE book...plenty of seats for Race and sports players....Great selection of TVs for viewing...even the private TVs pick up the baseball feeds along with the horse racing if you would like....Love how the place is set up....my only gripe is this....I go up to the window, bet a $500 2 teamer for baseball, and the guy tells me he cant give me a drink ticket, because they dont do that for sports players.....10 minutes later, my buddy places a $4 win bet on some horse from the local track back home, and he gets a drink ticket...something is severly wrong with that!....
P.S. a hidden gem at the mandalay book; the little deli to the left of the book....great food, reasonable priced.
#4 Bellagio
Grade: A
Best Book i saw in Vegas in my opinion. Not the biggest , but definetly my favorite....VERY comfortable chairs, and great TV set up....and whoever is in the back running the TVs, they do a great job..as soon as a game started, they had it going...all 8 games right in a row, and as the main game ended that had the audio, immediately was another game switched to that spot....as far as Bellagio being my favorite book...heres why....We stopped into the Bellagio book sometime in the early afternoon..I looked at the lines, and placed two 2-teamers for the night games....we then left, we to get some food and site see..came back 2-3 hours later to watch the games...sat down in the chairs...and never once pulled out my betting slips...the waitresses there were phenomenal....as soon as your drink was gone, you had another..I probably consumed 12-18 red bull vodkas that night, and never once showed a drink ticket...as long as you threw a couple bucks at the waitress each time, they just kept coming....absolutely loved it.
Book #5
Venetian

For such an upscale hotel with attention to detail in everything in that place, they sure overlooked their sports book....Very average at best....average chairs, very few TVs, placed a 300 bet, and had to ask for a drink ticket (was given 1), grabbed a miller lite and got the hell out of there...very dissapointing....
Book #6 Wynn
Grade: C+
Another book that dissapointed me...the casino and fixtures in the place are amazing...but yet the sportsbooks was so small....nice chairs for sports bettors, even though their were only 20-30 of them....TVs were nice, but just to much crammed into a small space...just didnt like it much
Book #7
Hilton
Grade: A-
The sole reason I stayed at the Hilton hotel was to spend time in the Hilton "superbook" as they call it...This thing is huge...I absolutely loved it...massive area for sports/horse racing...10x the amount of betting options than other books on the strip...good viewing, plenty of seats..the only thing that gets in the way is the Buffet is literally in the sportsbook...that can cause for some unwanted traffic right in front of your chairs as your trying to watch the game. (the entrance to the buffet is directly under the main "sports" TVs), but drinks come a fairly good pace....and the book in general is awesome..I really liked it...
Book #8
New York New York
Grade: D-
What a joke of a book this is...if you want to call it that...the size of this sportsbooks is no bigger than the shithole room I had at the excalibur...maybe 10 chairs, for sports and horses...and a betting window or two...this place plain sucks...the only reason its not an F, is you can place a bet there....
