While weather conditions can change in the snap of a finger, NFL Week 17 conditions for the outdoor games might be considered downright balmy compared to what we’ve seen the last couple of weeks.
That might be the big Christmas present for you, the bettor, as to how you lock in your NFL picks.
Let’s take a trip around the outdoor venues where wind, rain, and other conditions are worth monitoring right up to kickoff.
Here’s the NFL betting weather report for Week 17.
Carolina Panthers at Tampa Buccaneers weather
Some forecasts for Tampa call for thunderstorms rolling into the area of Raymond James Stadium around 1 p.m. ET, producing an 80% chance of rain in the first half with those models showing very heavy rain for the first quarter.
Sustained winds are moving at 14 mph with gusts getting up to 30 mph, blowing south from end zone to end zone at the Pirate Ship. Temperatures are in the mid-70s but will feel like 86 degrees thanks to the humidity.
This total is at 48 points.
Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars weather
EverBank Stadium could see sustained winds of 15 mph with gusts flirting with 30 mph, moving south from end to end for this garbage AFC South showdown.
Game-time temperatures are in the mid-50s.
This total is at 39 points.
Dolphins vs Browns Weather
The Miami Dolphins Christmas present comes on the 29th, as the conditions in Cleveland, while not optimal, are much warmer than you might expect in Ohio at the end of December.
The temperature is expected to be around 60 degrees at kickoff, with rains lightening around the 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff but some forecasts showing a chance of showers at times.
The real impact with be the winds at Huntington Bank Field, with sustained breezes of 20 mph hitting gusts up to 35 mph blowing SSE from sideline to sideline.
Miami is still pushing for a postseason spot but QB Tua Tagovailoa is doubtful with a hip injury and WRs Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill are questionable for Week 17. Those injuries along with the poor conditions have knocked the total from an opener of 41.5 to 33.5 points on game day.
Falcons vs Commanders Weather
Plenty on the line for both teams here, and the winner will have to overcome some gloomy conditions at Northwest Stadium in Landover, MD.
The weather is expected at 61 degrees for Sunday Night Football, and there is a 65% chance of rain in the second quarter. Sustained winds are at 12 mph with gusts up to 32 mph, blowing SE from corner to corner at Northwest Stadium.
Will pressure and less-than-ideal conditions hamper the fill-in kickers? Riley Patterson has played three games since Younghoe Koo hit IR, and he’s gone 2-for-3 on field goals while making all eight EP conversions.
Zane Gonzalez has three games under his belt after Austin Seibert went to IR, and has gone 3-for-5 on kicks while making all 14 extra-point tries.
It might be more about nerves than weather anyway: Michael Penix Jr. will be making just his second start, going against fellow rookie Jayden Daniels, who is already being touted for his big-game ability.
Jets vs Bills Weather
The Buffalo Bills are at home and trying to lock in the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoff picture.
After snow and frigid cold the last few weeks at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY, the football gods have set the temperature to a manageable 54 degrees, with a 68% chance of rain and showers throughout this 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
Some forecasts call for sustained winds of 22 mph with gusts flirting with 40 mph in the second half, blowing SSE from corner to corner at Highmark Stadium.
If winds get that strong, kicking and any longer passing plays could be pushed around by those gusts. This total is currently at 45.5 points.
Cowboys vs Eagles Weather
The threat of rain should miss Lincoln Financial Field when the Philadelphia Eagles host the Dallas Cowboys. Temperatures are expected in the low 60s degrees, with sustained winds at 12 mph and hitting gusts up to 30 mph, blowing SSE from end to end.
Kicking could be a concern for the Eagles. Jake Elliott has exactly one kick made from 50+ yards out, so windy conditions might alter Philly’s game plan if they're working around the Dallas 40-yard line.
On the other hand, Brandon Aubrey might have the strongest leg in the league, and it appears shocking when he does miss a kick. Given the wind direction, he could have the breezes at his back for some attempts.
The total for this NFC outing is down to 38 points with Eagles QB1 Jalen Hurts out and Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb sidelined.
