My analysis
Given the massive momentum shift seemingly out of thin air, this is one of my favorite spots in this series. Let's go back in time and revisit the pre-series narratives surrounding this matchup.
One of the most prevailing was the New York Yankees had an advantage in most starting pitching matchups, and I'm not sure we've seen anything to tell us otherwise.
Gerrit Cole was brilliant in Game 1 — allowing one earned run through six innings — before being pulled somewhat immaturely. It's something Yankees greats like Derek Jeter disagreed with:
Gerrit Cole was dominating this game. He was dominating the game. And if you take him out after 88 pitches for, I don't know what reason, It's a domino effect on not only this game tonight, but tomorrow's game and the rest of this series.
I suspect Cole's leash will be as long as possible tonight. That's good for the Yankees for all the reasons I outlined at the start of this series. The matchup for Cole is strong, and he can once again dominate the Los Angeles Dodgers. There's a reason he has a 1.7 ERA against them in his last starts.
Let's also go back in time and revisit what has happened in these playoffs with L.A. starter Jack Flaherty.
He posted seven shutout innings against the New York Mets in the NLCS, then faced them a second time five days later and was hit quite hard.
Flaherty allowed eight earned runs in just three innings. It was a direct comparison to what's happened to him a few times this season when facing a team for the second time in a short span (see the back-to-back San Diego Padres starts before that).
While he certainly didn't hold New York scoreless in his series-opening start, he did deliver a strong performance, allowing two earned runs in just over five innings.
Watching that game, more was on the table for New York there, too. It makes me think history can repeat itself here. It certainly doesn't help Flaherty has had a below-average barrel rate this season with his fastball-heavy approach, either.
Give me the Yankees to send this back west.
Will Freddie Freeman hit a home run in Game 5?
No. I say that somewhat in jest, but it's not possible again... right? I noted yesterday the number for Freeman was attractive, but I was concerned about the opportunities he'd get.
Yesterday was the most impressive of all his long balls in this series because it came in an entirely different location. Today is one of the lowest odds we've seen all postseason for him to go deep at +500.
For what it's worth, Freddie Freeman Over 0.5 home runs is presently the most-best player prop at BetMGM, just ahead of Juan Soto Over 0.5 home runs (+340) and Aaron Judge Over 0.5 home runs (+195).

Dodgers vs Yankees same-game parlay (SGP)
Given what we've seen in this series, I couldn't believe this was priced where it was.
You're giving me +135 on a guy the Yankees have to, by this point, be committed to not letting him beat them? Freddie is also backed up by Mookie Betts, against whom Cole has had much success.
There's a good chance Freeman gets a free pass at some point this evening. It's the most logical thing to do, and it indeed happens at a higher rate than the implied 42%.
