FanDuel is introducing a brand new tool, called My Spend, to help users better track their personal betting habits.
The tool, announced Wednesday, will be launched across all FanDuel products, letting players keep tabs on features such as personal play stats, spending patterns, and budgets.
"FanDuel believes our customers should always have a budget and plan in mind when they engage with our products, and we are thrilled to introduce My Spend to help customers track their spending and manage their play," said Alison Kutler, vice president of responsible gaming and community impact at FanDuel.
Available as a dashboard, the new tool will share “personal stats” related to FanDuel usage, including total deposits, and net winnings, as well as allowing the use of existing responsible gaming tools, including limits on wagers and deposits.
"As we look to continuously raise the standard for what it means to be a responsible operator, we look forward to continuing to bring new and innovative ways to support our customers," Kutler added.
In conjunction with My Spend's release, a brand new ad spot will accompany it, featuring various individuals participating in a shooting contest with the lights turned out in the gym.
“My Spend makes it easy to view your deposit and bet history all in one place,” the ad details. “Because betting without knowing how much you’re spending is like shooting in the dark.”
FanDuel, betting industry beef up responsible gaming
FanDuel's new tool follows a recent trend among both the gaming giant and the industry at large.
With increasing scrutiny and growing concerns, iGaming operators and sportsbooks such as FanDuel have shown increased efforts to provide necessary safety tools for their users.
This past September, as part of Responsible Gaming Education Month, FanDuel launched a new program and resource hub entitled “Trusted Voices: Conversations about Betting” including NBA player Randy Livingston, who outlined his struggles with gambling addiction during the campaign.
The industry as a whole also poured money into responsible gaming, with one report from earlier this year outlining a 72% increase in responsible gaming spending initiatives since 2017, now up to $472 million according to one estimate.
“This impactful rise in RG spending demonstrates the legal industry’s dedication to fostering a safe and informed gaming environment,” said American Gaming Association senior VP of strategic communications Joe Maloney back in September.
“Beyond the considerable taxes gaming companies contribute to fund responsible gaming and problem gambling resources, the industry also proactively invests hundreds of millions of dollars more to ensure our customers have the tools, knowledge and safeguards to play responsibly.”
