So the bill allows the government to label something say....."insurrection" and then compel phone companies, social media, banks to release data so they can violate citizens rights.

Attacking the freedom of the press is certainly a key starter to fascism.

Voting for a RACIST, rapist, fraud, convicted felon - is another.

I find it insanely hilarious that at a point when journalistic integrity is at tho lowest it's ever been, people are clamoring to give "journalist" more protection.

Like I said when this thread started, if you print the truth, if you vet your sources, then you have nothing to worry about. Nothing has changed in regards to the law from what it has been, probably since at least the Patriot Act, if not further back than that. The state of media has changed though. And in this very click-bait based, hot take world, where the media will print anything to drive revenue, regardless of validity, and even if it foments civil unrest and division, no, these guys don't deserve more protection. Print facts, vet your sources, and you have nothing to worry about.

This law didn't exist when he was President from 2017-2020. He didn't squash all media. The media did more to silence him.

 100% agree.  With an authoritarian regime coming in, ensuring that a corrupt leader  can't easily intimidate those who would report on his corruption, is paramount in a democratic society such as ours.  Der Fuhrer wants to keep open all his options to harm anyone he damn well pleases...
