It's time to talk Bears/Vikings.
The coaching mismatch here will be astronomical. We saw what Shanny(with a shitty team) did to this Bears rag tag coaching unit last week.
Don't underestimate Kevin O'Connell who comes from the same coaching tree. In fact, a whole lot of people still don't believe in the Vikings this year. Why? What have they done wrong in going 11-2 so far this year?
It has to be Sam Darnold right? It's hard to wipe out of all his shitty years from the memory bank. I believe that by playing with the Niners last year did wonders for him in learning the Shanahan system. When the Vikings picked him up this year, it was probably the most under rated off season move that no one is talking about. If you remember, the Vikings drafted JJ Mcarthy to be the guy.
In 13 games started this year, Sam Darnold has recorded a 100 or more qbr in 11 games.
He has the highest qbr vs the blitz this year.
Out of 35 QB's, he's 6th in epa+cpoe composite. Caleb is 29th.
The Vikings are #6 in dvoa, the Bears are 25th.
You guys know how high I've been on the Bears defense this year. But they have been falling off a cliff the last few weeks. Especially when Eberflus was fired. The man did only one thing well, and that was being the DC.
In the Bears last 3 games, dead last in epa per play. 30th in dropback epa when the secondary has been their strongest unit for most of the year.
New DC Eric Washington has been a D line coach most of his career. He was a d coordinator for Carolina in 2018 where they were 19th in points against. And in 2019 where they were 31st in points against.
As far as injuries, Bears starting LT Braxton Jones is out. On a shitty line where the only bright spots on the line have been their tackles. Whether it's Larry Borom or Kiram Amegadjie filling in, they are human turnstiles.
Here's a shocker, starting center Ryan Bates is out again. The dude never plays. Coleman Shelton will continue to play a subpar center.
D'Andre Swift is questionable again. Dude has been hampered the last 2 games. Backup RB Roschon Johnson is out again. They have zero depth at RB.
Gervon Dexter is out at DT. Losing more depth at DT since Andrew Billings got hurt a few weeks ago. This is when their run D really took a turn for the worst.
DeAndre Carter is out. The Bears primary punt/kick returner.
Looking at the Vikings injury report, Stephon Gilmore is questionable at CB. And that's it.
So we have a prime time divisional road dog Bears catching 6.5/7 points tonight. There will be a ton of people taking them at that #, thinking it's a sharp bet.
I think not.
