People that have money have it for a reason. Because they don't piss it away. I understand how you feel because the sports info is a valuable tool, but if you went to Hawii for a week ofcourse you could wait until you get back to check your email.
Thanks for sharing your question as you are not the only one wondering about this.
My advice is
1. Get a blackberry, if your going to pay $15 bucks a day you might as well have hte service year round or
2. My old house mate as an unsecured network in Henderson, go park outside her home.

Gone down the shitter?!? Try the mother fucking ninth circle of hell. It's that inexcusably abysmal these days.
Maybe the wretched Nevada economy has cast a miserable pall over the entire Strip and the vicinity, making the denizens of Vegas to act likewise, but in any event, I've had it with the surly dealers, cunty cocktail waitresses, and every other dick who toils in the Vegas service industry.
I live in LA and used to enjoy day trips or Saturday night stays, hanging out in the sportsbooks, lounging by the pools, getting dry assfucked at the card tables, but man, I just can't take the foul attitudes anymore. And like you alluded to, these Vegas drones just sit there with their gaping maws expecting to be fed with tip after tip even if they're not worthy of one.
In fact, I shot off an angry, livid letter to customer service at the M Resort, highlighting complaint after complaint from my last stay there. It was for basic common sense shit--I'm not high maintenance--I don't expect the bathroom attendant to lick my rectum clean after taking a hefty dump, but did they respond? Nope. And I'm someone who had gone there and burned through a couple of thousands of dollars since it opened in early 2009. Clearly, I'm no high roller, but damn, give me the illusion that my patronage is somewhat appreciated.
Oh, what was the thread about? Oh, WiFi and stuff. Yeah, I'm one of those who has always just eaten the fee for internet access in the hotel rooms.
A "couple of thousand dollars".........Please permit me to resort to my teen years.....YOU ARE AN F-ING IDIOT. The Marnell family would be THRILLED if you stayed at CircusCircus or played $1 blackjack at Sahara. You are as important to them as a pimple on a gnat's ass.

Sorry that I did not respond/agree with your post and just answered that idiot from Cal instead.
Even with the layoffs that happened last year (and some that continue)...especially at the different bars, The service at The M has always been very warm and friendly; The Marnell family created a quality hotel with a great staff...their marketing efforts are abysmal (too much emphasis on the retired crowd at Seven Hills and Anthem)....but the staff and quality cannot be denied.
Joining with Cantor Gaming was brilliant "luck" for them. It is one hell of an operation...and the future of sports gaming in Vegas. The book attracts serious local money and is very attentive to its line movements.

Hey, VegasGourmet! You must have the reading capacity of a lobotomized retard. What part of "I'm not a high roller" did you not understand? But I will admit, despite your blatant cognitive impairment, I'm impressed that you're able to string together something that resembles a sentence, so taxpayer funding of special ed classes hasn't been in vain.
And wow! I did not realize that the Marnells only target those who can afford to use $100 bills as fireplace kindling! My four stays, all of which were for Saturday nights, mean nothing! nada! zilch! to their bottom line. Maybe had I purchased bottle after bottle of Dom Perignon to flush my rectum with champagne enemas, it would've garnered me more love and attention from management. But no! My $140 Saturday night stays clearly reveal my proletarian status, meaning I'm worthy sneers, shuns, and outright hostility!
But you know, and as someone with an underdeveloped prefrontal cortex you may not comprehend this, word of bad service spreads like a self-sustaining chain reaction. So while my pittance of contribution to their ledger means little, rumors of awful service may cause others to avoid the resort. Eventually, all this adds up. It does. Really.
And what are you trying to convey with a handle like "VegasGourmet"? You think because your glut your trap with 99-cent shrimp cocktail at the Golden Gate, that makes you some kind of gourmand? Hell, maybe you are that sophisticated. No doubt, my post so shocked and angered you, your monocle popped out and shattered on the floor. And the sight of dregs like me must make you wanna hang yourself by your ascot there, Pennybags. But don't fret, my days of lollygagging in Vegas are long gone.
Hurrah!

Yo, Lemonsky.....got an issue here??? There seems to be a pattern of focus here on your part concerning a certain bodily part of yours.
My opinion of your initial posting has not been altered by your scatalogical ranting...only enhanced. As long as you are comfortable with those hotbeds of gambling action in California, then you have all my best wishes.
Doing the math: 4 stays at The M + a couple of thousand dollars = $500 a stay. You spent that per stay, give or take whatever, make brutal comments about the Strip and those that work there (even though The M, technically, is not really on The Strip)....and you expect what kind of consideration for your attitude/effort to be courteous, considerate, cooperative?....which, I strongly assume, was not part of your emotional makeup.
"Clearly, I'm no high roller, but damn, give me the illusion that my patronage is somewhat appreciated. "
Correct, you are not a "high roller"....Lemonsky, you are not even a "low roller". And, I strongly assume/suggest, that the customer service treatment that you received was in direct relation/proportion to the amount of consideration you gave to those that tried to service you.....regardless of the amount of your bankroll (or lack of it).
And, no, you do not schock or anger me, my friend. Your own self-importance (remember that $500 a trip bankroll) is your's to deal with....The bettor that puts down $2 to show on a 1 to 2 favorite to get a free drink understands their position in life far better than you do.

I can't wait to hit up Vegas in 3 weeks. Every pissy dealer I get at the end when I cash out I will thank them and walk away with every fucking chip they gave me. With a 7 night stay I will find them everyday and continue to piss them off.
States continue to add casinos with not just slots but they are also adding table games. Vegas will continue to lose American visitors each year. Vegas will either change their approach or just become a destination of a bunch of foreign fucks.
I will tip friendly staff. But not the assholes who expect it just by being there.

Gee, Vet...sounds like you're gonna have a great time....
Perhaps after you're done with your big action, we can meet up and beat up some bums looking for spare change
And, you are correct again Mr Vet, those "foreign fucks" DO tip pretty good...and even if they don't tip, I can just steal their money because they can't speak English and don't know what they are doing!!!!!!!!!!!

It is so funny the views here. I was a Jay Z place in the Palazzo a couple of years ago. Paying huge dollars for avg food and beers. The staff was acting like my orders for 14 dollar nachos was a pain in their ass and I was lucky to just have a seat.
One of the worst experiences of my life. fucking dive and I agree has become the symbol of the town.
Used to be you played a little and they gave you some drinks and comped a room no problem.
Then you played all night and still paid 249 to stay at the Venetian and go to the pool to pay 60 dollars for a round for your 3 buddies, wtf! Dinner at the nice restaurant was over 100/head..wtf.
Now, I just don't go much and it sounds like no one else does either. They keep sending me free room offers, desperate fucks. They built way way way too many new casinos, to me that is a big as problem as any.
I will still go some time this year and pay resort fees and gym fees and internet feels and for the little bar in my room for 9 dollar peanuts when I come home drunk etc etc etc

Seems people have asshole problems, high roller problems, internet problems, when in reality you have only one problem: The new vegas v. the old vegas. I have been going to vegas since '61 and have been all the changes (family oriented even), and the biggest factor now is all the casinos opening up everywhere. Ohio is opening up four (columbus, cincinnati, Cleveland, and Toledo) around late 2011. Everywhere you go, there is a casino now. Delaware and sportsbooks, which is my main gig when I go to Vegas, that and BJ.
I don't need $400 rooms and the strip. I stay in Old Town at the Nugget, Fitzgeralds, et cetera. Why? Rooms are not the greatest, true, and the crowd there is not all glitz and glamor, but it is cheap. Usually $49 for Nugget on a weekday, or $30 something for the rest. Binions closed their hotel part, but I like gambling there.
Why pay a large amount for a room when that is gambling seed money or SB money? If you want to be on the strip, stay at Bills for $100 a night on the weekends, and $45 during the week. How much are you actually in your room? Oh, staying on the strip is to impress some hook-up if you get lucky and not pay for it?
I got to Vegas 4 times a year (3 times on business and then 10 days for the last weekend of CBB league playoffs, and then the start of March Madness. If I want to go to the strip, or Summerlin (Red Rock), I can walk the 3/4 mile to Sahara and begin my trip down the strip.
But as I said, I go for the SBs, sit, relax, get there early, and take it all in slowly. I went down to the Mandalay with my four sons early (like 7:00 a..m. last MarchM, and couldn't find a seat. Went back to Nugget and found a nice seat, and the four of us drank, did our think, played BJ for 8 straight hours at the same table, and enjoyed ourselves. Nothing big, 10-20 a hand, but took Vegas for what it is, a dream of winning, the actual stage of coming home a few bucks ahead and or few bucks behind, and hitting a jackpot at the airport as i have done so many times waiting for my flight.
Vegas will always be vegas, good or bad. I will continue to go because I enjoy it, whether it be shows, the buffets, steakhouses, et cetera.
The old Vegas is gone. I lived in Vegas in Summerlin for 18 months on a case I was involved in, and I used to head to the local casino, place a SB bet, get comped for breakfast and other things, and it was great. 7 years later, comps are basically a thing of the past overall. Sure, you save on plane fare and hotel costs on other casinos popping up, but it's not the same for me. Detroit? What a joke. WV? Small, but okay. Connecticut? Nice. ATLC? No way. Calif and Indiana casinos? No thanks.
So all you youngsters who have visions of living in Sin City and making a living cambling, and living the high life, well, your vision is clouded from the dry heat of Vegas, and your own stupidity. If you have a 56 percent winning percentage the SB every day, and you wager $200/300 a day, figure out the money you made for the day. So much for the high lifestyle with your meager winnings. Gee, then you will be able to live on the strip or in old town at one of the motels there that used to rent by the day and by the hour.......oops, most of those are gone, and so are any insane ideas about making a living in Vegas gambling over the long term.
An old gambler's view of Vegas........

Sting....excellent post and, yes, "old Vegas vs new Vegas" is now before us.
...and it will get even more complicated in this town with the complicated bankruptcies, partially-completed projects, Wynn and Adelson slowly giving up their efforts here for Macau, and the upcoming further changes with the MGM empire.
One comment on your posting....If you are passionate about March Madness, then Mandalay Bay is the only place to be. You were there at 7am and couldn't find a seat...that's what it's all about...kind of like New Year's Eve at Times Square....you are surrounded by the greatest college bkb fans, it's one big party. Last year, Thursday night, double overtime with Ohio State playing....the floor was shaking!!! Just a fabulous place to experience the greatness of college bkb.
Thx again for your posting

i have to agree with all you guys except you can get an Iphone with data plan, tethering your Iphone for your notebook would solve the problem. Yes, i think 1x dollars per day is unreasonable.

I stayed at the hilton last year, paid 15 bucks one night, the connection was slow and only used it for about 15 minutes, i go to check out a couple of days later and they charged me 45 dollars for the internet, after a bit of arguing and bickering it basically came down to their word against mine, in the end i paid for it and told them to fuck themselves, other than that vegas is starting to become a place where the workers and dealers are begging for money i'm not a cheap guy but when it comes to tipping i only tip people who gives you good service to start with not to a fucking poker dealer who gives me 2 coolers and when i finally win a hand he gives me this stupid look that says "wheres my tip?"
as for internet in the hotel, its the feeling that their trying to just rip you off every chance they get that gives vegas the bad rep

Why go and get a $200-$400 phone with a tiny screen and such when you can get a temporary data plan and (USB) adapter card for your laptop. Here you go... $30 for the whole time your there.
Most cell carriers will accomodate you if you buy the card from them. They do the same thing for international phones and call plans. As long as you have a wireless (cell phone) carrier... just call and push until they get you a competent csr. It works.
