No bashing...just an honest thought here:
If you are worried about how much an internet connection would cost, why come to Vegas?....stay home, get drunk there, and bet with your offshore or local....it will still be a lot cheaper.
If you come to Vegas and are concerned about your "budget," this is not the right place for you....we will take your money eventually.

This reasoning is the exact reason why Vegas is in the shithouse and I have very little empathy for the workers there. Vegas expects everyone to spend unreasonable amounts of money on everything and tip tip tip.
Customer service has gone in the shitter as people don't have the disposable income they used to. Reduced spending and reduction in tips have resulted in layoffs and pissed off employees. Vegas has pissed on the medium and small guy and their economy will continue to get worse as other states expand gambling and these people won't bother with going to Vegas as much as they used to.
So don't waste your money on $12+ on daily internet. Tip only when you feel the person deserves it not because you are expected to. Either Vegas will change or their economy will continue tanking.

100% disagree .
I stayed in a room at Paris that was normally 500 a night if not for our comps but I'm not paying 15 bucks a day per computer
(Yes they want you to pay per computer so me and the lady cant both get on the internet unless we both pay even though we are in the same room)for the internet when I only pay 45 a month at home for any amount of computers I want.
Theres a big difference in worrying about a budget and just being plain stupid with your money. If they charged you 100 bucks a day to use the toliet thats free at home would you pay that or use the free casino restroom? ? If you want to be stupid with your money go ahead but smart people are going to go where theres free wifi and have a bagel for breakfast while we use the internet for free

If you believe, naively, that this is a "Vegas Issue," then you are sorely mistaken....this is a "Hospitality Industry Issue." These extra charges exist around the world...from parking your car in their own parking lot to "room fees" to, yes, the internet....it happens everywhere in the hotel industry.
To tip the housekeeping crew, the bartender, or the ticket writer at the sportsbook less (or nothing) because the hotel is "screwing you" is only spiteful and....to refer to another posting here...is why customer service has gone downhill; not just in Vegas either.
And...I'm going to say it again....go where you can afford to spend your money and not worry about costs for things that you editorialize about. If you go on a vacation (or gambling trip) and money is such an issue for you, then you went on the wrong trip.Do your "homework" and go where it won't piss you off everytime you see the prices on the menu or on your room charges.

In regard to the original post most hotels around the world offer free internet. Not all but most. So this particular issue is not a hospitality industry issue.
The internet charge is just one example of the greed that is slowly ruining Vegas.

https://www.lasvegasdirect.com/las-vegas-hotel-resort-fees.html
It IS purely a "hospitality industry issue"....not limited to Vegas.
Resort hotels, differing from others, will provide services pertinent to the needs of the guests that they attract and price those services accordingly.
To generalize on a topic like this is absurd.

Actually, paying a 9.95 resort fee (or even $20 at TI) for free internet and access to the fitness center is cheap compared to what it used to be; $15 for internet access, $10-20 for one day access to the fitness center.
I don't mind the resort fee when the room is comped, and the fee is cheaper than the combined costs of what the fees used to be. Some place waive the resort fee if you are being comped, anyway.

the bakery in Paris up by the elevators has free wifi

100% correct and its 15 bucks per computer not per day. If you got two people in your room (me and the lady ) that both want to get on the internet they charge you twice for a total of 30 bucks per day. I can afford 30 per day fine but I'm not paying it because its a ripoff and the bakery has free wifi

You guys make some good points regarding the reasons why vegas is losing customers daily. They think every single person visiting should be a high roller.
That said, vegasgourmet does give some examples of what to expect and how to deal with vegas.

Gone down the shitter?!? Try the mother fucking ninth circle of hell. It's that inexcusably abysmal these days.

Maybe the wretched Nevada economy has cast a miserable pall over the entire Strip and the vicinity, making the denizens of Vegas to act likewise, but in any event, I've had it with the surly dealers, cunty cocktail waitresses, and every other dick who toils in the Vegas service industry.
I live in LA and used to enjoy day trips or Saturday night stays, hanging out in the sportsbooks, lounging by the pools, getting dry assfucked at the card tables, but man, I just can't take the foul attitudes anymore. And like you alluded to, these Vegas drones just sit there with their gaping maws expecting to be fed with tip after tip even if they're not worthy of one.
In fact, I shot off an angry, livid letter to customer service at the M Resort, highlighting complaint after complaint from my last stay there. It was for basic common sense shit--I'm not high maintenance--I don't expect the bathroom attendant to lick my rectum clean after taking a hefty dump, but did they respond? Nope. And I'm someone who had gone there and burned through a couple of thousands of dollars since it opened in early 2009. Clearly, I'm no high roller, but damn, give me the illusion that my patronage is somewhat appreciated.
Oh, what was the thread about? Oh, WiFi and stuff. Yeah, I'm one of those who has always just eaten the fee for internet access in the hotel rooms.
If you cant get good service at The M then you might as well pack it in. They have the best service in Vegas imo.
