Cold again tonight..... wind stronger and horses trying to breathe on the front end has been an issue for some, unless they are the obvious speed horse who can get the lead. CLOSERS have been coming in since this very frigid Artic air has moved in now for 8-9 days.

System plays are in effect, but looking to ADD a closer here and there...handicapping now

Looking the following: (just waiting for Horse changes)

R1 - 78

R2 - 2345 << Might leave #6 out as well #1 and TAKE #8 ...mulling this and will take one of those or both

R3 - 3679 << feel you may only need #9, #7 and  #6 ....but #3 and #8 are setting up to have a monster shocker race and win on the engine I feels so, both are in for the next while until their form drops considerably

R4 - 234578

R5 - 2  << if alive and sitting on this one only, I would back up with 1.7. 8  if paying over $400

Playing 1 PICK3 backup > Race #1 > 245 with 6 horses with 6 horses costs $21 

Ticket cost = $60 (taking 6 horses in race 2 and 3....get to Race #5 ....might have a decent payout

When I saw that Tyler Jones was driving Poisedon Seelster after a win, NO WAY was I going to key that horse and just decided to take a small stab tonight. I did not like the conditions like last Saturday and Monday when it was very hard to handicap any result:

NE wind should make things interesting as it tends to stall first over but helps closers once they come off of the helmet or horses that can leave on the engine or get into top 3 positions....regardless, I play SYSTEM using ML program morning lines + some occasional adds as a result of other factors

REALLY Think the PICK5 can have some unusual upsets in 2-3 races of the PICK5 tonight + there is a major major KEY in race #2 but the horse has been off for 3 weeks and they might play around so you will see a ALL/ALL / key pick3 to a horse I really like tonight to finally get a win with a driver change to Doug McNair and is 9-2 in the morning line.

Race 1 - need 5-7 horses

Race 2 - KEY #2 << but do some PICK3 tickets with ALL in this race because they have an excuse to race the horse roughly tonight!!

Race 3 - LOVE #2 but....if the horse does not fire or they play around, I think 6 other horses can win including #10 and #4 and #6

Race 4 - need 7 horses in this race.... #6 ID IMAGINE is my pick to romp if you would key a horse....he was blocked but Luc Roy did not race the horse very well and I think the horse comes back and has a big race tonight >> worth KEYING in my opinion if you do not get the 3rd race KEY bet on #2

Race 5 - it seems impossible to have any other horse winning other than, the 3 horses dropping down with the best drivers as well!! Only need 2,3,4

Crazy beginning caused the 2 favourite horses to be shuffled all the way on the rail to last place and JMAC.....still almost won with #6 from dead last!

Monday night - Jan 29

-wind not a factor

-track will be very fast compared to other nights when either rain, sleet or thawing track slowed things down

-early speed should do well unless its a speed battle and the best closer can pick them off

Race 1 - unlike the other night, I see no reason to back other closing horses than the 2 fastest 

TAKE #6, 7

Race 2 - cannot just take the likely fave in #1 because he has broke 2 out of 6 races and does not have his regular driver!

TAKE #1, 3 ,4, 5 6 , 8 , 9 .....if playing 2 tickets and want some long horses, KEY #1, 3 and #8 on the 2nd ticket or main ticket

Race 3 - just need 2 horses, but will suggest a third as he is great with horses 1st time if they have speed but keep missing by 1-3 lengths collecting cheques

TAKE #5, #7 and consider throwing in #6 << 1st time Luc Roy in middle of the gate....and I suspect Luc will try to get him to #1 or #2 position at the first Q ....JMAC will come first or 2nd over on #5's back on the last turn

Race 4 - my instinct is to key #6 GIGONDAS but notice #5 was favored over #8 by Luc Roy!!!

-this is one of those races that could spring a surprise, so take 5 horses!

TAKE #1, 2, 5 , 6 , 8 and a part of me even think #9 and #10 could surprise but won't put them in

Race 5 - NIGHTMARE RACE

-even like #2 and #3 who are 15-1 morning line and they have 2 of the very best drivers at Mohawk....and, they used to race much higher classes than this!

TAKE #2, 3, 4 , 5, 7 , 10

If I stick to the SYSTEM, my ticket would be: 67/ 138 / 57 / 12568 / 245710 = costs $60

Not alive....they brought in a 15-1 morning line winner in the 3rd race

I spent $48 because 2 horses I had were scratched

Monday night >> something you see only one time every 2 yrs or 2x over 3 years

2x Morning line 15-1 horses won and I sniffed out one of them, but not both

Thursday Night:

-supposed to rain heavy maybe for race 4 and likely race 5 ....make sure you save some horses for that race (one closer for sure!)

- pot is being juiced an extra $2000 tonight and Monday's P5 was not, but still the pool was over $180K in it

Capping already:

Race 1 - need 4 horses at least

Race 2 - think you only need top two horses but I will do a PICK3 using the dangerous #1, Luc Roy's horse #5 off a vet scratch and good trainer and #9 who likes to leave and only raced 4 days ago !

Race 3 - need 4 trotters ..... don't think you need #4 or #9, as one cannot finish its last Q when not driven hard and the other has a B -track driver from post 9 trying to outduel 4 other equally strong trotters with better Mohawk drivers (do a PICK3 with these two for a backup)

Race 4  + 5 ....will cap in one hour

Part 2 - Thursday night Feb 1

-looking at Race 3 ....Jodi is an excellent trot driver and he is getting this #6 horse for the first time and the horse has won its last 2 races, including a windy day from the 8 hole at FLAMBORO on a half miler  so you have to put the horse in or in the the P3 backup ticket

Race 4 

-need #2, #4 and #8 .....does 1,7 and 3 go in there? Maybe #7 since he won last week with McNair and could win again if there is a speed battle since its one of the fastest closers

Race 5

-I see 7 horses have a shot but you only need 5 if you cap well......and that includes #10, #1 and #3 for sure.....

I don't like the set up of this P5 tonight so I am going to show a SYSTEM ticket that I would have bet and if it comes in, it would COUNT toward the system tracking, but not in my pocket

I am rather going to play JAMES MACDONALD to win 1 race in the PICK5 .....

He has.... 

RACE 1 - no chance

Race 2 - great chance

Race 3 - his horse is scratched

Race 4 - strong chance

Race 5 - so so chance

My simulation play was for System:

I did for JMAC wheel:

North Wind tonight..... easier for outside posts to get to position near the lead

-harder to come first over but 2nd over should be good

-front end has had some bad nights occasionally if a speed race

NO EXTRA CASH ADDED TONIGHT > in the 3 times they did, all kinds of longshots and weird racing occurred and I am going to avoid playing a large ticket on those nights ....SYSTEM would not matter unless I cap a 8-1, 10-1 or 15-1 morning line in 2 races

RACE 1 - TAKE A BUNCH - no standout

System takes > 1,4,5,6,9

RACE 2 - 

System takes > 17 ....maybe throw in #2 since its a tough horse who smells the finish line in the last Q ...was blocked last week

STRONG KEY > #7 << MIGHT CONSIDER DOING THIS!

RACE 3 - only need 1-2 horses and if you get beat, no biggie

STRONG KEY > #4

Really like/also take > #5 ...gets  Cullen who drives a horse very well in the winter using his Alberta life experiences to know when a horse is live during a race.....this horse has done well at Flamboro and has speed, despite terrible race positions off the gate

Race 4 - Need 3-5 horses due to where faves are positioned off the gate
