Permanently Switching to our NEW Forum on March 2

This new format totally sucks. How is this better on mobile? It's even worst. Site might be dead before NFL season starts.

Change always take a bit to get used to. However, we are confident the features we will be able to add to the new forum will result in an optimized user experience.

I agree.  This is the third site I've been a loyal visitor to for years that "updated" their forum and the entire site fell apart and went to crap.  I am done.  There are better forums online than Covers.  Especially now....

What a mess the site has become. This is not an upgrade.

Covers - I've seen several rollouts, some wanted, some imposed, with far tougher coding and scalability challenges than this. Also, launching something while looking into or working on conceptual changes defies sensibility for every single one of your users. That said, regarding basketball for example, most of your faithful users are drawn here to acquire the input of a select number of handicappers e.g. Miracling, MikeRu, SB, Eddy, Scorpio, Notaproj4f, KevWain, Zack & a few others whose names are escaping me ...  To a man each of these guys has already left, or are going to scaling towards that end. ... Did  you survey what changes these traffic catalysts wanted? It seems clear, in fact, the changes have worsened their user experience.  Why would you effectively run these guys off? 

If any of you longtime users go somewhere else, I sure don't blame ya'll, I hope you guys let the rest of us followers know!! This is truly a disaster!!

Have everything about the new forum. Why no more option to switch to the old forum? It would keep everyone happy. People like myself who liked the old forum had to make a few extra clicks every time we switched from new to old forum, or when going from one forum to another here at covers, and its been like that for a year or so, but we got used to it, as long as we had the old format. Now I hate this new format so much, and even more I hate the fact that the new forum is IMPOSED to me, against my will, that I will not be posting here any more.

@Rat84 - Sorry to hear your past experience with other forums making changes/upgrades did not work out for you. If you do have any constructive feedback on things we can do to make your experience better in the new forum layout, we would be happy to hear them. We are committed to making the new forum work for all users and will continue to make the necessary changes based on user feedback.

@MJS7 - Thank you for your feedback and questions, we would love to hear more and answer as much as we can for you. We definitely do not want to "run anyone off" and we are making many of the changes requested by the users so far. If you are interested in a more lengthy follow up to any other questions or concerns you may have we would like to set up direct conversation with you, when available.

@Flyingdutchman1 - We understand your frustration on the change from the old forum to the new forum, as we know change can be difficult. If you have any specific feedback on changes we can make to the new forum to make the transition easier on you, we would love to hear it!

Glad to see you removed all the emojis we all constantly used.

@NYBartender - As mentioned in a previous post, the emojis available on the old forum, will be made available on the new forum shortly.

Man this is awesome! You took away all the classic emojis that were popular and replaced them with

Now every time someone posts in a thread they are automatically subscribed to it

Now instead of being able to see 50 or so threads on a page you cut that in half

Now instead of being able to scroll over a thread title and see the first sentence inside now you have to open it

Once again you had a product that everyone liked and you couldn't stand it and decided to make it

Like usual your user base tells you over and over they are happy with things the way they are but you still don't give a rats ass what they think or want and keep pushing your like it's an improvement.

Congrats on making this site more and more , but that seems to be what you want and that is all that matters....

This will be seen as a PROLIFIC Mistake by the ownership of this Site.  In just one day, I have seen a HUGE reduction in posts and a number of regulars that have left.  I do not see one thing better about this new format and if it was so great, why did so many people not voluntarily switch.

I am sure there will be a message and new Site that everyone will be told is much better than Covers and that is where so many of us will end up going.  

It is your business so you can run it the way you want.....that is what is great about America and Capitalism.  Good luck!

100% agree with the complaints.

It's your business, but volume will be down a bunch and most likely there will be exodus elsewhere.

The fact so many of the requests were not available/finished during this transition period is mind boggling.  Agree the code necessary etc is pretty basic.

Good luck.  I know you guys "keeping it positive" in here - but just realize the traffic will probably be out of here come NFL.  It's impossible to navigate.

Why couldn't you have just left the option on here for the old forum?  It was an option for months.  People should have a choice!

you guys JUST DONT GET IT. Te new forum IS NOT user friendly....its a joke there are countless people stating just that in this very thread, not to mention the numerous patrons who have emailed you guy saying just as much. 

Any good business listens to their valued customers before implementing something new. The writing has been on the wall for a year. You al ignored your users, and put out a inferior product that isnt complete or streamlined....for what??? 

What a great site this once was. Sadly a site thatvi will not be visiting much more, nor will the countless people i know that also frequent covers

what a major screw up and screw job to your base.

In relation to reality, whoever, or whatever is responsible for this "asinine" decision

of change; seriously needs to be re-evaluated...I mean, really Covers, does it get any dumber

than this 'new' format? No one agree's with your change being effective! But yet you change it anyway!!

You ask for feedback, the feedback is ALL negative, (is their one positive concept in your 'change' ???)

one thing you can be assured of, you've lost a great deal of members participating in the forums, they're

gone...never to return....positive change is welcomed, negative change breeds desertion....

Used to love the fact that i can visit covers 2-3 times a day, and only check threads i havent previously opened. That is not possible now. They are all in same color. Also, getting some garbage <recaptcha validation has failed> message all the time now. The site is hurting my eyes both on my phone & on my laptop. Your sponsors adds are in the middle of page now. And so on. Bad bad move covers. Horrible site now!

Thanks for reaching out. To address your concerns:

- We are working on restoring the Classic Emoticons and will keep you posted with any updates there.

- We added the automatic subscribe to threads you have posted on to allow for those to be easily accessed from your profile page. If that proves to be unpopular across users, we can change that to a manual process of subscribing only.

- We understand the # of threads fitting on the page has decreased. However, we have condensed the content/layout on the new forum to fit as many threads above the fold as possible on both desktop and mobile.

- Previewing threads on desktop by hovering over the title is something we have received feedback about and are currently investigating the ability to implement that. Stay tuned.
