Derrick Henry's second touchdown of the game tied the score and Nick Folk kicked the decisive extra point as the Tennessee Titans recovered from a late 14-point deficit to stun the Miami Dolphins 28-27 on Monday night at Miami Gardens, Fla.
Tennessee (5-8) scored 15 points in the last three minutes to win on the road for the first time in seven attempts this season. Will Levis completed 23 of 38 passes for 327 yards, one touchdown and one interception and DeAndre Hopkins had seven receptions for 124 yards and a receiving touchdown for the Titans.
Harold Landry recorded three sacks, including one on Miami's Tua Tagovailoa on fourth-and-2 with 20 seconds left to seal the upset.
Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns -- both in a 60-second span of the fourth quarter. Tagovailoa finished 23 of 33 for 240 yards and Zach Sieler scored on an interception return for the Dolphins (9-4), who had a three-game winning streak end.
Miami star receiver Tyreek Hill missed the second quarter and parts of the first and third due to a left ankle injury. He finished with four catches for 61 yards.
After allowing two touchdowns in a minute to fall behind by 14 with 4:34 to play, the Titans drove 75 yards on nine plays with Levis throwing a 3-yard scoring pass to Hopkins with 2:40 left. Levis followed with a two-point pass to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to pull Tennessee within 27-21.
The Titans' defense held and gave the ball back to the offense with 2:15 left. Tennessee traveled 64 yards on four plays with Henry scoring from the 3 with 1:49 to go. Folk's extra point put the Titans ahead, and the defense thwarted Miami's last chance.
Two big Tennessee mistakes helped the Dolphins build what looked to be a safe lead in the fourth quarter.
First, the Titans' Eric Garror attempted to field a bouncing punt and muffed it on his own 11-yard line. Miami's Elijah Campbell recovered at the 7. Two plays later, Mostert scored from the 3 to give the Dolphins a 20-13 lead with 5:34 remaining in the game.
On Tennessee's next offensive play, Levis delivered a high, errant pitch that Henry was unable to snag and Bradley Chubb recovered for the Dolphins at the Titans' 12. Two plays later, Mostert scored from the 5 to make it a 27-13 advantage with 4:34 left.
Jason Sanders' 31-yard field goal with 12:37 left allowed Miami to tie the score at 13.
The Dolphins' lone touchdown through 3 1/2 quarters came when Levis' third-down pass was intercepted by Sieler at the 5 and returned for a touchdown with 8:25 left in the opening stanza.
