No. 23 Stanford 21, California 3: Stepfan Taylor rushed for a career-high 189 yards and moved into second place on the schoolกฏs career rushing ledger while leading the No. 23 Cardinal to a convincing victory over the host Golden Bears.
Taylor scored a first-quarter touchdown and Stanford (5-2, 3-1 Pac-12) limited California (3-5, 2-3) to three rushing yards while winning the 115th edition of the Big Game.
Taylor surpassed 2009 Heisman Trophy runner-up Toby Gerhart (3,522) on Stanfordกฏs all-time rushing list and now has 3,616 career yards, trailing only Darrin Nelson (4,033 from 1977-81) in Stanford history.
After Taylorกฏs 7-yard run, Calกฏs Vincenzo DกฏAmato kicked a 21-yard field goal 73 seconds into the second quarter. Stanfordกฏs Kevin Hogan threw a 9-yard scoring pass to Levine Toilolo just over a minute later and Josh Nunes connected on a 20-yard touchdown pass with Zach Ertz to make it 21-3 with 8:15 left in the half.
The Golden Bears rushed for a season-high 318 yards one week earlier against Washington State but were unable to get the ground attack going against the Cardinal. Cal also was just 1-for-14 on third-down conversions.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Taylor posted his 18th consecutive 100-yard game and the touchdown run was the 33rd of his career. กญ Golden Bears receiver Keenan Allen caught four passes and has 200 for his career, two shy of the school mark held by Geoff McArthur (2000-04). กญ Stanford hadnกฏt scored any offensive touchdowns on the road this season prior to scoring three against the Golden Bears.
