No. 7 LSU 35, Auburn 21: Sophomore Jeremy Hill matched a personal best with three touchdowns and rushed for a career-high 183 yards to power host LSU to its FBS-best 29th consecutive win in September.
Hill, who missed the season opener and the first quarter of last weekกฏs win over Kent State due to suspension, rushed for 151 yards in the first half alone. J.C. Copeland added a touchdown from a yard out for LSU (4-0, 1-0 SEC), which improved to 27-1 over its last 28 home games.
Tre Mason rushed for a season-high 132 yards and a pair of 2-yard scores for Auburn (3-1, 1-1), which has lost eight straight on the road. Cameron Artis-Payne scored from 12 yards out with 6:33 left, but Auburn could not pull any closer after recovering an onside kick on the ensuing kickoff.
Nick Marshall fumbled on a fourth-down play on Auburnกฏs opening drive and Hill capitalized three plays later with a 49-yard run up the middle for the first score of the game. LSU took advantage of another fourth-down blunder on the next possession when punter Steven Clark mishandled the snap and Hill ran it in from 10 yards out on the next play.
LSU fumbled on its way to another score on the next drive at the Auburn 7, but forced a punt and stretched the margin to 21-0 on Copelandกฏs 1-yard plunge after Hill ripped off a 54-yard run. Auburn got on the board early in the third quarter on Masonกฏs first score, but was countered by Hillกฏs 6-yard TD run on LSU's next possession.
