Mike Miles Jr. turned in his second straight standout offensive performance, scoring 20 points Monday night to lead TCU to an 83-51 rout of Southern Miss in Fort Worth, Texas.
After scoring a team-high 22 points in his team's season-opening win over McNeese State, Miles -- one of four returning players for the Horned Frogs -- was successful on 9 of 15 shots, including 2-for-4 from long range, with six assists.
TCU (2-0) also got 10 points, five rebounds and four assists from Micah Peavy. Emanuel Miller recorded 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Francisco Farabello chipped in eight points and seven rebounds for the Horned Frogs, who shot 49.3 percent from the field and made eight three-pointers.
After outrebounding McNeese State 57-34 in the first game, TCU was equally impressive in owning a 53-27 advantage over the Golden Eagles.
Tae Hardy notched 18 points and Isaih Moore had 11 for Southern Miss (1-2), which lost its second straight game.
USM shot 21-for-63 (33.3 percent) from the field.
In the first meeting between the schools since 2005, Miles started hot for the Horned Frogs by scoring their first five points on a 3-pointer and a layup.
They got hot from deep in the middle of the half as Peavy and Farabello connected on treys to build a 22-11 advantage with 10:02 remaining.
Miles' second long ball put his team up 29-16 at the 7:40 mark.
The group sprinted away to a 44-26 halftime lead -- TCU's largest advantage of the first 20 minutes -- as the game got away from the Golden Eagles.
Miles notched 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting with a pair of threes in the half.
TCU shot 52.9 percent from the field and was 6-for-13 behind the arc.
The Big 12 club doubled up the Golden Eagles in rebounding, 22-11.
Hardy's seven points led the visitors as they were good on 10 of 27 field goals (37 percent).
In a wide-open second half, TCU outscored Southern Miss 39-25 to remain perfect on the young season.
