I’ve compiled my three best NHL player props for tonight. As always, make sure you keep an eye on the odds and available pricing due to the ever-changing nature of the player prop market.

Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets
Prop bet #1: Auston Matthews 1+ goals
The return of Auston Matthews is the primary storyline in Saturday’s game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs. After scoring five goals across the first 13 games of the season, Matthews missed nine games due to an upper body injury.
My NHL picks expect him to pick up right where he left off, especially against a Lightning team that ranks in the bottom half of the league in goals allowed per game and xGA/60. Tampa’s biggest flaw defensively is not only its inability to stay out of the box, but to kill off those penalties as well.
The Bolts rank 20th in penalty minutes taken per game and 22nd in penalty kill percentage.
That is good news for Matthews, who has scored 17 goals over the past 21 meetings between these two teams. Five of those goals have come on the man-advantage, and I expect the best goal scorer in hockey to light the lamp once again in his return on Saturday.
Prop bet #2: William Nylander 1+ goals
My thinking here is simple: I am confident that at least one of Matthews or William Nylander scores in this game, which guarantees a profit. If both score, all the better.
I mentioned the Lightning’s special teams struggles in the previous section, which should benefit both Matthews and Nylander. They both skate together on the first power play unit, where Nylander leads the team with five power play goals.
These two teams last faced off on October 21, a game in which Matthews and Nylander combined for three goals.
Furthermore, goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy is slated to guard the cage for Tampa. He’s allowed four or more goals in two of his past three starts, posting a .871 SV% in the process.
Prop bet #3: Kevin Fiala Over 0.5 power play points
At the same time, the Los Angeles Kings are hosting the Ottawa Senators. Sticking with the theme of special teams, I want to fade Ottawa.
First, it struggles to stay out of the box, ranking 22nd in penalty minutes taken per game. Subsequently, when short-handed, the Senators struggle to keep the puck out of the net as they rank 23rd in penalty kill percentage.
Goaltender Linus Ullmark has struggled to deal with this product in front of him, which has led to a disappointing .886 SV% through 14 appearances in the crease.
That brings me to Kevin Fiala, who leads Los Angeles with four power play goals. Over half of Fiala’s offensive production this season has come on the man-advantage, a trend that should present itself against an Ottawa team that has struggled on special teams.
