Veteran center Mikael Backlund has put up some respectable numbers for the Calgary Flames so far this season. He only has nine points in 20 games but he’s been shooting the puck a ton as of late.
Backlund has gone Over 2.5 shots on goal in seven of his last eight games for a total of 29 SOG in that span. He’s been fantastic at home with six, five, and four shots in the last three games.
The Wild have done a decent job of limiting shots on goal this season, but they’ve also had a few dud games. They just allowed 31 shots to the Oilers in Edmonton on Thursday night and now continue their road trip in Calgary.
Backlund has been firing a ton of shot attempts over his last eight games with 11, seven, four, seven, zero (at Vancouver), eight, six, and eight since November 5. Those last three games all came at home.
