Need some help with a laptop part....PAGING LIPPSMAN

My laptop charger is acting funny

Dell Inspiron 1520

This charger

When I plug it into the wall, the green light on the "rectangle piece" hasn't been coming on immediately lately ( and I have no charging capability )

I mess with the connection by the "rectangle piece" and sometimes I get power, others time I have to mess with it more.

Any vendors out there sell this over the counter that you know of, or do I have to buy it online and pay shipping?

Any help is appreciated

You will need to order it, but you could get one of the universal ones from the Shack. Just e-bay the thing, but try to get an actual dell one instead of one of those cheap ones.

Any idea what went bad?

I assume the guts of the rectangle thing is like a power converter / adapter....do they just wear out in time?

It was probably some caps that went bad. Dried up or such, or it's possible it took a hit. (Little surge)
