I have been using 6.0 for the longest time an just never wanted to update it, but lately on some web sites i have been getting that my browser is out of date and that i should update.

My question is if i update to a newer version, will i lose all my emails and favorites folder? or lose anything else?

You won't lose anything. Go ahead and up to IE8
