Welcome all to another rugby season and I wish everybody a successful year on the punt. The RWC will of course be the highlight but has thrown a spanner in the works for Super rugby with players to be rested, but that is something we will just have to work around.
Those that followed me last season will not be surprised that I'm kicking off with the Brumbies. Always well drilled and will hit the ground running. Class all over the paddock and at home against a Reds outfit that has recruited well, but has a stop gap 10 (be it Hunt or O'Connor), injuries and sickness in the camp. A good win against the Crusaders last week (but Crusaders are notoriously slow starters) but I doubt they can be as well prepared or as organised as the Brumbies, with O'Connor and Thomson yet to have played, Hunt just back to the code and of course no Quade.
Despite the Reds knocking off the Brumbies in ACT in round 2 last year, home ground is an enormous advantage to the Brumbies and I'll be surprised if they can't outscore the Reds by at least a couple of tries.
I think the current price is as good as I'll get so I'll jump on early with Brumbies -7.5 @ $1.90.
Good punting all

Well there's my 1st error of the season - Brumbies now out to -7.5 @ $2.00. I think they are around $1.60 chance to cover the 7.5 spread so I'll happily dip in for another nibble at the evens.

O'Connor, Thomson and Simmons all out for the Reds. Not going overboard in the 1st round of the comp but am dipping into my pocket again for another dabble at the theirs for yours.

Crusaders v Rebels - no appeal as a betting proposition.
Lions v Canes - probably goes over 54.5
Blues v Chiefs - simply don't know. Too many stars missing..
Sharks v Cheetahs - strong lean to Sharks -10.5. Sharks not at full strength but have depth and with home advantage should be far too strong for Cheetahs who have just lost way too many players.
Bulls v Stormers - Bulked up Bulls (as if they needed it) at home should cover.
Tahs v Force - Hodgson out is huge loss for Force and Tahs can certainly rack up points. Couldn't back Force, may have something on Tahs.

Rebels +14.5. Much improved squad, always play saders close + saders missing most of the big guns.
Agreed small lean to the over in that games match
Agreed no clue on the Chiefs match perhaps either by under 7.5
Sharks Cheetahs stinky match, nothing for me.
Bulls my fav bet of the weekend.
I actually like the Force while I agree Hodgson is a big loss Alcock is a really good player, but probably won't touch it. Tahs will have a target on their back this year

Sound advice indeed but I have gone a bit larger than intended. In my defence, I submit that it is only because the books kept throwing too good a price at me.
