I'm glad I pulled the plug in round 1 after pocketing my Brumbies winnings - so many upsets. It just goes to show the benefit of picking the eyes out of the round and not trying to make money on every game.
So to round 2.
The Rebels were very efficient against Crusaders and rightly deserved their win. Crusaders were, to put it mildly, ordinary. This was no surprise to many (and congrats to those that were prepared to lay their money down) as Crusaders always start slowly. If the Brumbies had played before this game many more would have backed the Rebels had they seen the Reds obliterated after coming off a thumping of the Crusaders in their final trial. The point is that the Rebels performance was flattered by the performance and form of the Crusaders.
Very much the same applies to the Waratahs/Force game where again the underdogs were clear and deserved winners. Force were solid but the Tahs were awful and if they play the same this weekend they will lose again. However I don't see it happening. There's no panic in the camp and Cheika wisely has made no changes to what is, on paper, a vastly superior outfit to anything the Rebels can strut out. Tahs trial form had been ok but everything (with the possible exception of big Will) was off last Sunday.
The 2 things that can prevent Waratahs covering the spread are 1. they are again in holiday mindset and form and 2. Mike Harris's boot. I believe they have too much ability, teamwork and pride for (1) to happen and I hope they are sufficiently disciplined for (2) not to be a deciding factor.
Last week showed that "gifts", while hard to find, are there if you are selective and I will be very surprised if Tahs don't win this by 2 tries plus.
I'm prepared to be giving the 5.5 @ $1.90, which my book has opened it at but will be holding off just now, hoping for a tad better price. As soon as it hits $1.95 I'll be jumping on.
Good punting all.

Nothing that's worth noting. I only saw 3.5 games last weekend (Rebels, Tahs, Brumbies + 2nd half Canes) so lots of games this round that I'm not confident to comment on. Unless someone can convince otherwise my only bet will be the Tahs.
Really looking forward to Chiefs/Brumbies game however.
